Samsung 16-megapixel Galaxy S4 Zoom image leaks before June 20 unveiling

The last of the three upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 variants has leaked; the camera-focused S4 Zoom press image has appeared online. Unfortunately for Samsung, its June 20 London event will not hold any real surprises when it comes to its Galaxy S4 spinoff smartphones.

Samsung sent out invitations for a press event it will be holding on June 20 in London where it announced it would be launching new Galaxy and ATIV devices. The Galaxy brand is Samsung's Android smartphone, tablet, and camera brand that all run the Android operating system, while the ATIV brand is its Windows 8 and Windows Phone brand. It's no secret that the Galaxy devices are the most popular, but unfortunately for Samsung all three of the smartphones it had planned on unveiling to the world saw images and specs leaked online weeks before the event.

The first device to leak was the Galaxy S4 mini. We reported on the first images being leaked and then its specs soon leaked online. This led Samsung to have to officially announce the device before it originally planned to. The second smartphone to leak was the Galaxy S4 Active, it followed the same routine, images leaked, followed by official specs. Again, Samsung was forced to officially announce the device before its planned June 20 unveiling. And now, the final piece of the puzzle has just appeared, Samsung's camera-focused Galaxy S4 Zoom press image has leaked, showing the world what the 16-megapixel camera packing smartphone looks like. And we believe it's only a matter of time before Samsung makes the specs official.

Sammobile received the image from an anonymous source and was also able to confirm the official specs of the S4 Zoom. The smartphone will use a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, will be powered by a 1.6GHz dual core processor, include a 16-megapixel camera with 10x Optical Zoom with a dedicated shutter button, have 8GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, will run Android 4.2.2 with Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX interface and a 1900 mAh battery. It doesn't appear to have a removable battery as once thought, since the image clearly shows the back of the smartphone boasting of the camera with a protruding zoom lens.

If past history is any indication of what's next, Samsung will probably be forced to officially announce the Galaxy S4 Zoom sooner than it originally wanted. At least we'll have some new ATIV devices to look forward to and hopefully, for Samsung's sake, they won't leak before June 20.
