Sony VAIO Fit 15 Touch Review - All Round Laptop with Neat Design

Everyone knows that Sony can makes good laptops but feature that sticks out the most for its new Sony VAIO Fit 15 laptop is its clean and elegantly brushed-aluminum design.

The VAIO Fit 15 model that iTechPost reviewed featured a 1.8GHz Intel i5 processor, Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 750GB hard drive and a 4400 mAh Li-Ion battery and running Windows 8.

The new laptop targets the audience of college students and business professionals who demand speed at all times. The VAIO Fit 15 is equipped with comfortable and smooth keyboard where you can type with ease but key compression is somewhat shallow which may take time to get used to. It also includes standard Sony features such as a full-size backlit keyboard with integrated number pad.

The VAIO Fit 15 has a 15.6-inch back-lit touch-enabled HD display with a 141 pixel-per-inch resolution.

The touch screen is very responsive with little to no lag and the display is sharp, bright, and crystal clear with solid contrast. Also the touch screen easily recognized multi-touch gestures (The touchscreen recognizes up to 10 touches at once). The screen offers a full 1920 x 1080 resolution. However, the glossy screen can at times produce reflections depending on the angle of users view.

The optional capacitive touchscreen allows for a snappy and responsive touch experience and the LED back-light ensures a bright display while conserving battery life. However, the battery life could be a little better which has around 4.5 hours battery time when continuous web browsing was performed.

The audio is powered by Intel High Definition Audio and Clear Phase Technology which delivers powerful volume for a laptop but does cause some distortion. The webcam on the VAIO Fit 15 captures images and video in 720p. Sony VAIO Fit 15 is fairly easy to carry for travelling compared to its large screen. The noise of the laptop would be obvious in a quiet room while using it but isn’t to the point it distracts the user. Weighing 5 pounds and measuring 14.9 x 10 x 0.9 inches, the VAIO Fit 15 is on a par with the HP Spectre XT TouchSmart 15t-4000 in terms of size and weight (5 pounds, 14.9 x 10 x 0.87 inches).

The laptop features Includes 3 USB ports and disc drive is on the opposite side. There are no dedicated mouse buttons but it has the touchpad unmarked designated right and left click locations on the bottom portions.

Conclusion

The price of the laptop which was $949 is not too cheap nor not too expensive for the specs that comes along but it is more than enough for average user who wants basic computing capabilities with a quality display and attractive design. However, it is recommended for travelers to carry an adapter as the battery life is a bit limited compared to laptops with long battery life. But still the Sony VAIO Fit 15 is a solid all-purpose mainstream laptop that fits students and businessman's need with very attractive design, responsive touch screen and vibrant display.
