Sony launched its flagship smartphone the Xperia Z at the International CES event in January this year and the handset has already reached many countries globally. And now, after around six months of launch, the handset is finally coming stateside, exclusively on T-Mobile.

The Xperia Z will be exclusive to T-Mobile but the unlocked version of the handset is already up for grabs from the Sony store sporting a price tag of $629.99.

"T-Mobile customers traveling this summer will love the Xperia Z with its big, beautiful HD screen, water-resistant design and advanced camera features," said Jason Young, vice president of product marketing, T-Mobile. "This is an outstanding combination: a premium 4G LTE smartphone with Sony's best features coupled with T-Mobile's unlimited data and speedy nationwide network."

The carrier also took the opportunity to announce the handset on its Facebook page.

T-Mobile customers should be happy as the carrier has added another top-end smartphone to its handset portfolio. The carrier didn't announce an exact release date for the Xperia Z, but indicates that the handset will be available in the "coming weeks." The Xperia Z is expected to be available nationwide at T-Mobile retail stores, select national retailers and also from T-Mobile dealers.

The handset will also be available from the company's and online store and the company has already started to take pre-registration of the handset. Pre-registering your interest in the handset is not same as pre-ordering the handset - if you pre-register, you'll get important updates such as pre-order information.

T-Mobile has not confirmed any details on the price of the the carrier's version of the Xperia Z, but said it will be available in the black color option and a limited-time only purple variant.
