Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 gets software update to fix bugs caused by previous firmware release

Earlier this week, Verizon had to stop rolling out a software update for its Samsung Galaxy S3 subscribers, after customers started to complain that the firmware contained bugs. Now the carrier is rolling out another update to fix the issues caused by the previous software issue.

In early June, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 owners received a software update, which was supposed to bring new features such as the highly-touted Multi-Window View. The software update was also expected to bring better hotspot functionality, access to the home screen without unlocking the smartphone when a Bluetooth headset is connected, Auto Share Shot in S Beam, Samsung Smart Switch support to aid file transfer and more.

However, the software update did not go smoothly as Verizon would have expected. Many users complained that they are having issues connecting to LTE and find their handsets either stuck on 3G or without a signal. Some users also complained that after connecting to 4G LTE, the signal drops back to 3G.

A user also complained on iTech Post, "After this update Ive been experiencing no Mobile data connection whatsoever.... Dropped calls...text messages coming late and not going through at all..along with all that battery dies within three hours. This is completely annoying talked to verizon three times and hour each time all i get is a refurbished phone in the mail coming my way."

Some users also criticized the slow data speeds and poor battery life after downloading the previous software update. The early June firmware also brought a bloatware app called Caller Name ID, that could be used for free as a trial, but you'll be automatically charged $2.99 per month after the trial ends.

Now it seems that Verizon has started rolling out a minor update, VRBMF1, over-the-air (OTA) which is expected to fix problems created by the previous update.

If you have received the new software update on your Samsung Galaxy S3, did it fix the issues caused by the prior update released in early June? Let us know in the comments below.
