The grapevine has been abuzz with rumors for sometime now that Sony is preparing to launch a new 5-inch Xperia smartphone, and a new report suggests that Sony could launch the dual-SIM Xperia C smartphone on Tuesday, June 25, at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai.

"We have some solid information from a trusted source of this handset, which is due to be announced at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai tomorrow," XperiaBlog reported.

The Xperia C smartphone, codenamed CN3, is tipped to be announced alongside yet another Xperia device from the Japanese company - the 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra or Xperia ZU phablet.

The Xperia C is anticipated to feature a 5-inch qHD screen with 540 x 960 pixels resolution. Under the hood, the smartphone is expected to house a 1.2GHz quad-core chipset, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of on-board storage. The Sony handset will also offer additional memory support thanks to the microSD card slot.

The device is also expected to feature an 8-megapixel Exmor R rear-facing camera and will likely be 8.88mm thick. The Xperia C is also expected to come with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS out of the box.

As for the regions which will get the device, per XperiaBlog, the Xperia C "will be launched in China and other selected markets."
