[RUMOR] iPhone 14 Coming This Year? Design Changes, New Features, and Release Date Leaks

Apple is rumored to bring iPhone 14 this year, after releasing iPhone 13 last September 2021.

Apple's new iPhones could bring about the most significant changes in years, according to the latest iPhone 14 rumors.

In the leaks so far, users can expect a more streamlined new design, a thicker battery, new camera changes, and an improved FaceID.

The iPhone 14 Pro models, which are expected to feature under-display Face ID and ditch the notch in favor of a punch-hole front camera, could see the most significant changes. They might also be able to connect via USB-C.

However, the regular iPhone 14 lineup is also expected to undergo significant changes, as the Mini is expected to be phased out in favor of a new 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max.

iPhone 14 Design Changes: Camera Bump

Another design speculation for the iPhone 14 shows that the camera bump at the back of the iPhone device is predicted to be flattened out.

Considering that, it looks like the iPhone 14 will have a thicker body composition which should be thick enough to hold all the camera hardware without having a protruding camera set up on the back.

Another reason why it is speculated that the iPhone 14 will be thicker is because of a bigger battery or a new set of cameras.

It is reported by CNet that the death of the Lightning port is predicted not to happen in this new iPhone lineup. In addition to that, there will still be a new USB-C port since the EU may force Apple to add USB-C ports to iPhones.

Rumors have been going around for a while about a completely portless iPhone, although it doesn't look like that will happen in the 2022 iPhone lineup, at least not for now.

iPhone 14 Features Notch Display

This one has been around for a long time. In the past, people have talked about what the iPhone 14 won't have. Before this year, Apple could finally get rid of its notch on the iPhone X.

It was reported by one of the best-known Apple analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, that the company is going to switch out the camera for a smaller one.

A "hole-punch" design is one with a screen that only has a small circular cutout for the front camera, like the Galaxy S21 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.

It is predicted that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a hole and pill-shaped cutout to accommodate for the front-facing camera and Face ID instead of a hole-punch design.

iPhone 14 Lineup Loses iPhone Mini

Although there hasn't been much information released about the iPhone 14, there has been speculation that Apple's next lineup will focus on larger phones and may have the possibility to ditch the iPhone mini devices.

In a July report, the Nikkei Asian Review predicts that Apple's iPhone 14 Mini will be discontinued, and a research note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the Mini will not be around for much longer.

However, it is rumored that the iPhone 14 lineup will still include four models, two of which will be "high-end" and "lower-end," with two size options for each.

iPhone 14 Release Date

There aren't any credible rumors about the iPhone 14's release date yet, but it is assumed that Apple will hold its annual fall iPhone event in September 2022, as it usually does.

Occasionally, when Apple introduces a new design or size, Apple releases different models at different times. So, it's possible that the iPhone 14 line could come out in more than one day after its introduction.
