Jeep's First Electric SUV to Arrive in 2023: What You Need to Know

The American multinational automotive manufacturing corporation Stellantis is tweeting photos of its upcoming vehicles. These posts reveal a first-ever all-electric Jeep SUV and RAM 1500 pickup truck set to come out in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The company promises more will be coming soon.

At the start of this month, Stellantis unveiled their "Dare Forward 2030" strategic plan for the upcoming decade. They promised to aim for "carbon net zero emissions by 2038."

On the same announcement, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said, "we are thrilled to present the Jeep brand's first-ever fully electric SUV launching in early 2023 and a preview of the new Ram 1500 EV pickup truck arriving in 2024."

Engadget noted that the announcement did not provide specifications or the official name for both vehicles. So fans are left to speculate on the possible specs of the units.

Some think the Jeep EV SUV will use the STLA small platform. This means the car could potentially support an 82kWh battery and 300 miles of range.

Ram 1500 EV Truck 2024

Not many fans speculated about the Ram 1500 EV specs. However, sources tease cool photos of the vehicle in a trickly lighting setup. Due to its dark visage, some speculate the images are simply a design sketch. This implies Ram has yet to decide the final form of the vehicle, which is why half its body is still hidden in the shadows.

Twitter user Daniel Golson took up the challenge to fully sketch up the vehicle's outline. He emphasized that the sketch lines are actually "a bunch of path in the file" that developers might have forgotten about.

The end result was a shocking full visual of the entire truck. Although it is hard to determine because of the lack of clues, fans might be getting a mid-sized pickup truck in 2024.

Other Details About Stellantis

The Verge pointed out that Stellantis and its Jeep series were notably some of the slowest to adapt to electrification. The issue is pretty obvious when looking at its competitors like Ford and GM, which have already shipped out many EV models in these last few years.

In comparison, Stellantis shipped out plug-in hybrid versions of its vehicles like the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUV. So the company suddenly declaring a "zero emission" goal is a bit surprising to many fans.

The Stellantis Dare Forward plan notably aims to sell five million EVs in 2030. This number implies that the company plans to take over all European passenger cars and some American trucks. Their plan is still in the early stages, so it is hard to determine whether they are fully equipped to face this challenge or not.
