Apple's Monster M1 Ultra Chip Promises Immense Power: Impressive Specs Revealed!

Are Intel and AMD shaking in fear?

Apple has introduced its new monster M1 Ultra chip, a microprocessor that imbues the power of an already potent M1 Max, then combines it with the robustness of another M1 Max processor to extend its enormous performance.

This new chip takes the two M1 chips and links them with Apple's Ultra Fusion architecture to reach that incredible, unprecedented computing capacity.

Apple Reveals Shockingly Impressive Specs for M1 Ultra Chip

As for its spine-tingling specs, the new Ultra M1 chip is being manufactured using a five-nanometer process and offers 20 CPU cores, which consist of 16 high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores.

It also carries up to 64 GPU cores, with 114 billion transistors. The chip also offers up to 128 gigabytes of unified memory and 800 gigabytes per second of memory bandwidth.

The Ultra M1 chip also provides 2.5 terabytes per second of interprocessor bandwidth with a 32-core neural engine that can do 22 trillion operations per second. It likewise has a built-in Secure Enclave, which provides an extra layer of security through a dedicated secure subsystem seen on Apple devices that is integrated into the chip.

Based on observations, ZDNet concluded that the M1 Ultra is 90% faster than Intel's flagship Core i9-12900K. The chip is likewise more energy efficient, utilizing 100 watts less power than the Intel Core i9-12900K.

While CPU power is definitely the chip's strongest point, the M1 Ultra's GPU performance can be at par with the most formidable GPU, such as the Nvidia GeForce GTX 3090, yet consumes 200 watts less power.

The M1 Ultra is already at a distinct advantage when compared to other chips, but it is even packing an immense punch when pitted against other systems. When compared to a 16-core Xeon Mac Pro, the M1 Ultra-powered Mac Studio has been tallied to perform 90 percent faster.

Yes, you read that right, 90% faster!

Unveiled at the Apple Event last Tuesday, the M1 Ultra is seen to first appear in the new Mac Studio, Apple's top-tier desktop.

Benchmarked against another monster system, the 28-core Xeon Pro, the M1 Ultra Mac Studio came out the winner, clocking at an unbelievable speed of clocking 60 percent faster! Definitely, the M1 Ultra is the most powerful Apple microprocessor to date!

M1 Ultra Mac Studio Pricing and Availability

While the desktop is priced at $1999, buying the Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra chip would cost at least $3,999. The new M1 Ultra Mac Studio can be pre-ordered through Apple's website, and will ship starting March 18.

Apple senior vice president of hardware technologies Johny Srouji said the M1 Ultra is yet another "game changer" for Apple silicon that should "shock the PC industry. As the processor connects two M1 Max chips through UltraFusion, Apple microprocessors have definitely scaled to new, unprecedented heights," Srouji added.
