WWDC 2022: Apple Marks the Date for Another Virtual Worldwide Developers Conference

Apple finally announced the WWDC 2022 date.

Apple recently announced that their worldwide developers' conference this year will be from June 6 to June 10. Apple's WWDC 2022 event will take place at their company's headquarters in San Jose, California.

Due to the ongoing global health crisis, Apple decided that the 33rd Worldwide Developers Conference would still be held entirely online this year.

This is not the first time that the Worldwide Developers Conference will be held virtually. Due to the outbreak of a global pandemic, both WWDC 2020 and WWDC 2021 were held digitally. However, since countries all over the world have adopted a new normal, numerous tech enthusiasts have hoped for an in-person event. Unfortunately, the WWDC 2022 will still follow the same virtual format as the last two years.

The developers' conference will be a free online event for all developers worldwide. The main point of the event is to show off the new technology that will let people get new versions of iOS, iPad OS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS in the future.

WWDC 2022 by Apple

WWDC 2022 by Apple is the next major event for the company that starts on June 6, wherein Apple is reportedly unveiling the next major software updates for its primary devices.

Despite the fact that COVID-19 cases have decreased in general and prevention protocols have been relaxed in many parts of the United States, Apple was forced to continue the virtual trend.

According to Bloomberg, after all, putting together an Apple event can take several months, if not several years, to plan. In addition, it would be hard for Apple to prepare for both an in-person keynote and an online-only event at the same time, so it would be hard for them to do both at the same time.

Despite opting for a full-blown online event, Apple stated that it will still invite a selected group of developers and students to watch the WWDC keynote and State of the Union videos together with the online community at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California, on June 12.

Students will be able to apply for this invitation-only event, which will be limited in number. A Swift Student Challenge is also being held by Apple. This year, the winner will get some swag from the WWDC 2022 conference.

Apple's Upcoming Products

Apple is expected to release news about technologies they are working on. However, there have been a few rumors and speculation about what Apple will reveal at WWDC 2022.

At the Apple event in June, it is rumored to be unveiling a full-blown introduction of the mixed-reality headset. In addition to the new headset release, the company is also rumored to be working on the beta versions of iOS 16. The mixed-reality headset also has numerous correlations, references, and interactions with the iPhone in the new iOS 16.

This also indicates that the headset will be released during the iOS 16 cycle, which begins in June and will last until the release of iOS 17 in the fall of 2023.

However, it is possible that Apple will provide a sneak preview of some of its upcoming augmented and virtual reality software sooner rather than later. Perhaps the audience at the event will even get a look at the rOS (or realityOS), which stands for reality operating system, that runs on the headset.
