Nokia's 6-inch 'Bendit' phablet leaks in new image

Nokia is gearing up to join the ranks of Samsung, Huawei and Sony, as the Finnish company allegedly has a 6-inch phablet in the works. Now a photo of the Nokia phablet, codenamed "Bendit," has surfaced online.

The image is courtesy of Sina Weibo user who claims Nokia's new device sports a screen size of about 6 inches.

"It seems Nokia is already working on a 6-inch Lumia Windows Phone device. Sina Weibo user @ictech today leaked an alleged image of a display panel of a 6-inch Lumia Windows Phone device," reports WMPoweruser.

The leaked photo also shows off the Windows and Nokia logos. The buttons are also visible on the bottom panel, which is typical to Windows Phone devices.

Recently, we reported that per Chinese site WPDang's sources, Nokia was prepping a 6-inch phablet dubbed "Bendit", which was speculated to debut post the launch of the AT&T bound Lumia 1020 smartphone.

"The sources disclosed to WPDang, at the Nokia factory prototype devices discovered a code-named Bendit, according to sources disclosed that the back shell of the device size is about 6 inches or so devices roughly in the mid position, and the release date will be after the EOS. But the sources did not reveal the specific parameters of the equipment," noted the WPDang report.

Reaffirming the Nokia Bendit phablet's existence and post-Lumia 1020 launch was also a recent post on Twitter.

"Nokia Bendit - 6-inch phablet. Windows Phone 8.1. Launch - after Nokia EOS. 2013," tweeted @leakschina in mid-July.

What's more, earlier in April this year, Financial Times had reported that Nokia was working on its first-ever Galaxy Note-like phablet.

"Those with knowledge of the company's plans said that the most innovative will be a device that can work as a phone and a tablet - known as a "phablet" - similar in size but with more advanced specifications to Samsung's popular Galaxy Note. This will be the Finnish group's first move with Lumia into the larger screened mobile smart devices market, where rivals such as Apple and Samsung have already established a dominant position," the Financial Times reported at the time.

At this juncture, no details regarding the specs of the upcoming Nokia phablet are known. It is speculated that the smartphone may not launch until Microsoft pushes out the WP8 GDR3 update (expected for year end), which is rumored to support a high resolution 1080p screen.
