Netflix's 'Our Father': Infertility Specialist Fathers 94 Children Without Their Mothers' Consent

Netflix has been known for producing some of the most shocking documentaries. From serial killers to bank heists, we think we have seen it all. Apparently, that is not quite the case.

Its latest documentary, titled "Our Father," might just be one of its most shocking documentaries to date.

Wondering why? Think of this scenario: Could you ever imagine yourself being one of 94 siblings? Half-siblings, that is. You all have one father, but your mothers do not even know that he got them pregnant.

Sounds crazy? It is the real-life story at the center of "Our Father." Here is what you have to know about it:

Netflix's 'Our Father' Documentary: What is It About?

An article published by Time best summarizes what this new Netflix Documentary is about. According to the article, "During the 1970s and '80s, a fertility specialist in Indiana named Dr. Donald Cline inseminated dozens of patients with his own sperm, without their knowledge or consent."

Yes, you read that right.

In fact, the documentary alleges that the infertility speciality, the now-retired Cline, has around 94 children (and counting) he fathered. Some of his children as well as their mothers who have been interviewed feature in the Netflix documentary.

The documentary shows how the siblings have uncovered the truth about who their real father is. The whole process began when one of Cline's unknowing daughters took an at-home DNA test that led her to discover a couple of half-siblings she did not know existed, according to a report by Parade.

So why did he do it? We will let you discover that for yourselves. You can watch "Our Father" on Netflix.

Where is Donald Cline Now?

If you are wondering if the retired infertility specialist has answered for his crimes in court, the answer to that is no. He was only given a suspended sentence of one year and paid a fine. That means that no, he did not spend any time in jail for what he did.

In fact, ELLE notes that he was living in his hometown up until 2019. "He apparently keeps a low profile and still has many supporters in the community," the article points out.

If you are wondering if he eventually lost his license, he did. However, that no longer mattered because he was already retired by the time it happened.

Other 'Our Father' Details

The whole documentary is just a little over an hour and a half long. Eight of the 94 children Cline fathered without his patients' consent feature in the documentary.

Cline himself did not participate in it. "Parts of the story are reenacted, and Cline himself is played by actor Keith Boyle," ELLE notes in its article.

According to IMDb, the documentary is directed by Lucie Jordan.
