#DaredevilSaved: Years After the Popular Netflix Show Got Axed, Disney+ Comes in To Save the Day

Fans of "Daredevil" will be delighted with the latest news on Disney+.

Disney+ is moving forward with "Daredevil" series with "Covert Affairs" creators Matt Corman and Chris Ord attached to write and executive produce, as reported by Variety.

The blind lawyer-turned-superhero Matt Murdock, known as "Daredevil," is the latest of many MCU titles that have been revived on Disney+ as shows, starting with last year's WandaVision.

Disney+ has since released six other Marvel shows, including "Hawkeye," "Moon Knight," and "Loki," with many more to follow this year.

Appearance of 'Daredevil' in 'Spiderman: No Way Home' Hinted Superhero's Return

For some time now, there have been rumors that a Disney+ series about the Man Without Fear was in development.

The rumor escalated when two of the Netflix "Daredevil" series stars, Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio, appeared in recent Marvel projects.

Once again, Cox played Matt Murdock, the secret identity of "Daredevil," in the movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home." On the other hand, D'Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the Disney+ series "Hawkeye."

Cox and D'Onofrio appear to be optimistic about a Disney+ revival of the show. However, according to Engadget, there's no telling if they'll return to the new series.

D'Onofrio, in an interview with Marvel News Desk, shed some light on the "Daredevil's" sudden cancellation from Netflix. The actor said the show's departure in 2018 likely had to do with Marvel paving the way for Disney's growing streaming service.

"You know, at the same time the group #SaveDaredevil started to rise, we started to learn the reasons why that happened and so we understood what Marvel was doing because Disney+ coming out," said D'Onofrio.

It now seems that "Daredevil" is in the works again with the hiring of Corman and Ord, but Marvel is not announcing anything yet regarding the show formally.

Corman and Ord most famously co-created the USA Network series "Covert Affairs," which stars Piper Perabo and Christopher Gorham. The show aired for five seasons on the basic cabler between 2010 and 2014.

Corman and Ord most recently worked as executive producers and co-showrunners, respectively, on the NBC drama shows "The Enemy Within" and "The Brave," as well as the CW series "Containment."

Fans Have Been Waiting for 'Daredevil's' Return

Ever since the Netflix series was canceled in 2018 after three seasons, fans have been clamoring for more "Daredevil."

But according to Variety, they were in for a long wait as it was reported in 2018 that the deal with Netflix included a clause that prevented any characters from the Marvel-Netflix shows from appearing in any non-Netflix projects for two years after cancellation.

The decision came as Disney tried to bring its Marvel heroes under one umbrella, with multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe shows having since debuted on Disney+.

The last such show to premiere was "Moon Knight," starring Oscar Isaac. This week, a trailer was also dropped for the "She-Hulk" series starring Tatiana Maslany.
