Dr Disrespect is holding a Fortnite tournament, putting up a $100,000 stake as a price.

However, not every participant is playing the same game with the same set of rules. And this is felt immensely by Twitch streamers participating in Dr Disrespect's tournament.

Guy Beahm, famously known as Dr Disrespect, was once Twitch's most famous game streamer until he was permanently banned from the platform in 2020.

Dr Disrespect's Tournament

Dr Disrespect has been banned from Twitch, which means other streamers on the platform are not permitted to play with or feature the celebrity in their streams. Streamers taking part in his Fortnite tournament now face an obstacle as a result of this situation.

Jake Lucky, a member of Full Squad Gaming, provided a rundown of the Twitch community guidelines, which had been posted in-house by BoomTV.

Boom TV, the company hosting the event, has provided a list of rules that specify Twitch streamers must mute Dr Disrespect in-game, refrain from showing him on stream, and only refer to him by nicknames such as "the two time champion" to avoid breaking the community guidelines of Twitch.

A few Twitter users have related this scenario to one of the famous lines from the "Harry Potter" movie when characters should not name their enemy-they call it "He Who Must Not Be Named."

According to IGN, Twitch streamers are prohibited from featuring or advertising users that have been previously suspended. It also added, "We understand that there may be instances where suspended users may appear on your stream due to circumstances beyond your control, such as through third-party gaming tournaments, but we expect that you make a good faith effort to remove them from your broadcast, mute them, or otherwise limit their interactions with your stream."

Following that, the message provided a list of a few helpful tips to traverse the Fornite tournament to Twitch streamers:

  • The first tip is to use an alternate name that can be used for Dr Disrespect, such as "two-time" or "Blockbuster video game champion."
  • Next is that when referring to the event, Twitch streamers should say "Hot Shot Duo Drop featuring Fortnite."
  • Another rule these streamers need to observe is to put Dr Disrespect on mute while playing.
  • Players are also asked to be mindful not to show the tournament or bracket page while they are streaming.
  • Lastly, Twitch streamers need to cover up any pictures, videos, or streams that feature Dr Disrespect on their stream.

As previously stated, these established guidelines are under the Twitch community's suspension evasion, which other streamers need to follow.

Dr Disrespect's Twitch Ban

Dr Disrespect first received a temporary ban from the platform in June 2019. While the second and last ban was served to him in 2020.

As previously reported in iTech Post, Dr Disrespect is one of the biggest names on Twitch, which made his ban so controversial and messy at the same time. He added that, according to him, the streaming platform did not inform or communicate before or after any guidelines that were overstepped to warrant his permanent suspension.

In one of his streams, he revealed that he knew the reason behind the matter and had legal action taken against Twitch. However, just a couple of months ago, Dr Disrespect tweeted that he is now "moving on."
