5 Telegram Features You Might Not Know About

Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging service that also provides end-to-end encrypted video calling, file sharing and several other features. The app is available both on iOS and Android. 

Over the years, there had been an increasing number of Telegram users. Even though WhatsApp remains to be top choice when it comes to messaging app, we cannot deny that a lot of people also like Telegram for its features.

1. Secret Telegram Chats

If you are after maximum privacy, you can create secret chats in Telegram that use end-to-end encryption. Since these chats are not stored on Telegram's servers, you can only have an access on them using your specific phone. 

The message disappears on both devices if one party deletes a it. Moreover, if you prefer to delete the chat, you can specify a self-destruct period for all media.

If you are using Android, all you have to do it slide out the left menu and choose New Secret Chat to start a new one. Meanwhile, if you're on iPhone, you have to open a chat, then tap the contact's name at the top and choose More. Finally, hit Start Secret Chat.

2. Edit Videos

The recent update added a few features to Telegram, making it an all-encompassing utility. The app now has a powerful photo editor. To further elevate it, the company has added some advanced tools to edit videos as well. 

To use the video editing tool, simply open a chat and select the desired video that you want to send. After selecting the video, tap on the tuning icon to open the new video editor. 

The video editor will allow you to adjust the saturation, contrast, exposure, and other qualities of the video. You can even find RGB curve. This video editor of Telegram is ideal for color correction and enhancing the look of your video.

3. Save Messages You Want to Access Anywhere

If you need to quickly move a piece of media from one device to another, you'll find Telegram useful. Using the Saved Messages chat, you can keep a record of information that you can open on any device where you're logged into Telegram.

If you want to save a message in Telegram, simply tap it, then choose Forward. Afterwards, select Saved Messages to add it instantly. 

This feature is useful particularly for "keeping track of an important URL, getting an image to another device without cloud storage, or keeping a record of important information," according to Make Use Of website.

4. Use Multiple Telegram Accounts

The latest update of Telegram brought the multiple accounts features. This is useful if you want to keep your work and personal accounts separate. If you want to add a new account, simply tap on the arrow beside your name then tap on Add Account.

Once you have tapped on that, enter your new number and then follow the process on your screen. "Once you have created your account, you can switch between your accounts by clicking on the down arrow and selecting the account that you want to choose," according to Beebom.

5. Lock Your Chats

The privacy features of Telegram is one of the factors why it became popular. For optimum privacy, the app allows users to lock their chats. This feature is useful for safeguarding your personal chats particularly if you let others get hold of your device.

If you want to lock a chat, simply go to Settings, then go to Privacy and Security. Afterwards, choose Passcode Lock and enable it. According to Beebom, "once you create a passcode and enable it, you will be able to lock and unlock your chats by tapping on the lock icon at the top right of the app."
