[RETRO GAMING] Remember Star Wars: Rogue Squadron?

It seems like the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron cannot get enough of how great the Nintendo 64 game was.

Despite the years, numerous players of the game still clearly remember the nostalgia of the game.

Aspyr Media, Inc. is well-known for its extensive library of ported games, which includes a number of Star Wars titles available for the Nintendo Switch. These titles include Star Wars: Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast, Star Wars: Episode I - Racer, and, most recently, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The company has recently hinted in a tweet that the classic Rogue Squadron games may see the light of day.

This all started when a Twitter user named Sam Schumacher asked Aspyr Media, "@AspyrMedia, what are the odds of you guys putting out ports of the Rogue Squadron series? #StarWars "

Aspyr replied to the fan, stating that they love Star Wars just as much as the fans do. However, they would only like to develop games that fans love. And if there is demand, they are definitely on board.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron on Nintendo 64

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron is a video game that was originally created for the gaming console Nintendo 64 and launched on December 7, 1998.Although this video game is also available on PC.

According to Wookieepedia, "It was one of the first Nintendo 64 games to support the console's Expansion Pak, which allowed higher-quality graphics to be displayed while playing."

The action of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron takes place during the Galactic Civil War, which pits the Galactic Empire against the Rebel Alliance.

The Rogue Squadron's pilots are in the midst of a desperate struggle for the survival of the Rebellion six months after the Battle of Yavin.

Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles form Rogue Squadron at a time when the Empire is amassing forces for an all-out assault on the forces of the Rebel Alliance.

This group is composed of twelve of the most experienced X-wing pilots from the Rebel Alliance. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron was deemed the best action computer game of 1998 and was awarded the Origins Award for that achievement in 1999.

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Remaster

One of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron's developers, Julian Eggebrecht of Factor, hopped in on the tweet and made a few suggestions to improve the remaster of the game's ideas.

Eggebrecht stated, "The one for Switch should be the ultimate Rogue."

He added, "Using every last bit of the Wii, all controllers from Pro to wheel, all levels from Leader & Strike in one as intended, fixed & remixed. Multi-player. 1:1 gyro lightsaber combat. 60 FPS. Our ode to Star Wars"

It incorporates many of the features that were planned for the unreleased version of Rogue Squadron for the Wii.

The Wii version has the fourth and final iteration of the game that was being developed before it was scrapped due to legal issues between LucasArts and the game's developers.

According to nintendolife, the Rogue Squadron games include Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the Nintendo 64, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader for the GameCube, and Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.

In 2009, the game developer Factor 5 went bankrupt, but it has since made a comeback in 2017. Despite this, it does not appear that the company will be involved with the Star Wars franchise any time soon.

Sam Schumacher, the Star Wars fan that asked the question, replied to Aspyr Media and Julian Eggebrecht and expressed his gratitude for developing the original games and stated how they were his favorite video gaming experience.

Again, the Star Wars developer replied and stated, "StarwarsGlad you enjoyed our games - we loved making them for all Star Wars fans out there!."

Sam Schumacher is one lucky Star Wars fan, receiving a reply from Aspyr Media and having Julian Eggebrecht's input and replies.

It looks like the game, despite numerous years after, still remains in the minds of avid fans.
