‘Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel’ Releases on Mobile: Here's What You Have to Know

Good news for Yu-Gi-Oh! fans. A new game is available on mobile devices.

Be ready to experience a new game with Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel. Konami shadow dropped the game on mobile devices on July 6. This surprised players who have been hoping to play the new game for months.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel was announced July last year. It has a single beta test in October 2021 with around 5000 participants. But since then, not much was heard about the game.

Last May, Konami confirmed that the game was still planned for release. This is despite the fans wondering if it had been dropped.

'Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel' Offers a Unique Experience to Gamers

According to DotEsports, "Cross Duel is an entirely unique take on the traditional Yu-Gi-Oh! card game format." The new game sees three opponents dueling at once.

Moreover, there will be monsters that have individuals skill trees, which "can unlock skills exclusive to the game," as per GameSpot report.

Based on what Konami has shown, using an original card battle system, Cross Duel has four players facing off in a free-for-all Duel.

The players utilize lanes as a core mechanic as it is needed to strategically summon and manage monsters to attack their opponents. The game has an added factor of using Spells and Traps to control the eight-turn Duels.

The game utilizes a free-to-play model like every other Yu-Gi-Oh! game available on mobile.

With the release of the game, Konami just brought another way for fans to enjoy the franchise on mobile, "alongside the likes of Duel Links and Master Duel."

'Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel' Includes Microtransactions

Cross Duel is free to download on both Android and iOS. By just playing the game, players can get a lot of mileage.

Microtransactions are present in the newest Yu-Gi-Oh! game just like other Konami games.

As per DotEsports report, "the game doesn't even hide that it is a Gacha title, calling some of its pulls and banners Card Gacha." It offers tickets similar to that of Duel Links.

Players can purchase gems using real money. These can then be used to try and unlock new cards for your deck. A roulette of some sort is even emulated in the motion of selecting a card from the banners.

Just like the main title, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, Konami is releasing the game in waves across Android and iOS. If it is not available in your region yet, it will arrive in a matter of time.

The game is presently available in Canada, the Netherlands, and Hong Kong. Over the coming days, it is expected to be available in more regions.

It remains to be seen whether Cross Duel will imitate the success of Master Duel, which gave Konami its most profitable year ever.

Unfortunately, a sad news washed over the community as Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi had been found dead on July 6.

Takahashi's body had been "found floating while wearing snorkeling gear." The Japanese coast guard recovered his body.

Takahashi's became known with the 1996 release of Yu-Gi-Oh!. Since then, his creation has become a very popular card trading game.
