SAN FRANCISCO, CA - SEPTEMBER 9: Apple Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue announce pricing for the new Apple TV during a special event at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium September 9, 2015 in San Francisco, California.

Apple TV HD with the First Siri Remote Goes Vintage

As per a news story by Mac Rumors, the renowned tech giant has quietly included its Apple TV HD with the first-ever Siri remote to its growing list of vintage products.

The news outlet reports that the 2015 Apple TV HD has become a vintage product last June 30, a leaked internal memo seen by Mac Rumors says.

But this time, the Cupertino-based tech giant added the Apple TV HD with Siri remote to its public list of vintage products, making the designation official.

The now-vintage Apple TV HD debuted in 2015, along with the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.

The 2015 Apple TV HD introduced the first-ever Siri remote, which previously flaunted a ringless minimalist look.

It is worth noting that beginning in 2017, the iPhone maker started rolling out an all-new Siri Remote design, which features a white ring around its menu button.

Mac Rumors notes that the added white ring should help its users easily see it when picking it up.

So it turns out the Apple TV with the ring-less Siri Remote has now become "vintage."

On the other hand, the second generation Siri Remote, which sports a silver color and a circular trackpad, much like the classical iPod, has yet to enter the vintage list.

Apple TV HD with the first-ever Siri remote is now vintage, following its rumored next-generation release this 2022.

Meanwhile, the 2017 Siri Remote, which comes with the white ring, is also spared from being "vintage."

Apple Vintage Products

Now that the Apple TV HD with the original Siri Remote has become "vintage," what does this classification entail?

According to a report by Apple Insider, the renowned tech giant classifies its products as either "vintage" or "obsolete" as years go by since their release.

An Apple product enters the vintage list five years after they have been pulled out from the shelves. Essentially, its spare parts get a bit harder to come by. And as such, servicing them is no longer as easy as non-vintage offerings.

Apple TV 2022

Meanwhile, recent rumors hint that the Cupertino-based firm is working to introduce an all-new Apple TV this 2022. It is likely to run with an A14 Bionic chip, and the best part is its RAM gets upgraded to 4GB. And on top of its specs upgrade, it should also get a lower price this time around.
