AT&T Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 press image leaks

AT&T is getting ready to launch its biggest smartphone to date, literally. A leaked image shows the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 with AT&T branding.

When Samsung announced the original Galaxy Note, it blurred the lines between smartphone and small tablet with its 5.3-inch display. Early critics slammed the device for being too large and predicted that consumers would not carry a smartphone that big. Samsung and consumers proved that theory wrong when the Galaxy Note became an overnight hit.

The company pushed the limits once again when it increased the Galaxy Note 2's display to an even larger 5.55-inch size. The Note 2 was an even bigger success and Samsung proved there was a market for tablet-sized smartphones. The company is now getting ready to really push the limits by bringing its 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega to the U.S.

The always-reliable evleaks has posted a press image of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, complete with AT&T branding. There's no information on when we can expect to see the Mega 6.3, but some are speculating that the August 23 date on the phablet's display in the image could be the date AT&T officially announces the device.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 features a 6.3-inch PLS HD display and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX. The phablet is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and includes 1.5GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. The Mega 6.3 comes with 16GB of internal storage and also includes a microSD expansion slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards.

It is packing an 8-megapixel rear camera that can record full HD video and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. Its wireless capabilities include a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and NFC. Samsung has also included a large 3,200 mAh removable battery and universal remote control with program guide.

There are rumors that carriers in Canada are getting ready to launch the Mega 6.3 very soon, so the August 23 date could very well be a strong hint at when we can expect AT&T to officially announce the device in the U.S.
