Meta is Ending Quest 1 Support for Population: One This Fall

Meta's Population: One game will be pulled out to Quest 1 headsets.

Population: One, is a popular battle-royale shooter set in a virtual reality game that is well received by the VR community for the game's unique adventure.

However, despite it being one of the most popular Meta virtual reality games, the company has decided that it is ending its support soon for Quest 1.

It looks like the game's publishing company seems to be shifting their focus to creating new experiences.

Meta's Population: One Support

Meta stated that they are discontinuing game support in order to focus their efforts in other areas.

BigBox VR is a game publishing company that is behind Population: One and also, at the same time, a company owned by Meta.

According to BigBox VR's statement, the shutdown is necessary so that the company can concentrate on creating new experiences that will push the boundaries of multiplayer virtual reality.

The publishing company is currently working on the development of BIG POP1 experiences that will test the limits of multiplayer virtual reality. They are discontinuing support for Quest 1 on October 31, 2022, in order to concentrate their efforts on the next-generation features and technology.

On October 31, this change will take effect for players of Quest 1. They will no longer be able to load or play Population: One.

BigBox VR also stated that account progress, in-app purchases, and crossplay are still accessible on supported devices such as the Oculus Rift S and the Oculus Rift. Other supported devices include Meta Quest 2 with Link/Airlink, Meta Quest 2, and Meta Quest 1 with Link/Airlink.

This includes money transfers, buying skins, and anything else that has to do with the player's account.

Furthermore, according to The Verge, if they have a PC that is compatible with virtual reality, players of Quest 1 can still play the game. Since the game supports cross-buy, users of Oculus Link and Air Link will be able to access the PC version of the game.

This connection should make it possible for users to play Population: One by connecting their Quest 1 headset to their computer via a wired or wireless connection.

BigBox VR added that "Quest 1 customers are eligible for a base game refund if they contact Customer Support within 6 months of purchase of POPULATION: ONE on the Meta Quest Store."

Meta's New Apps

Meta recently launched in MINIverse and Stratoverse in the Quest 2 virtual reality headset. Both games are created to be exciting, fun, and immersive that players from Canada and the United States can access.

Meta introduced the two new apps in collaboration with other brands, The Fender Musical Instruments Corporation for the Fender Stratoverse and the BMW Group for the MINIVerse, as reported by iTechPost.

BMW's MINIverse is a virtual reality go-kart game that has the capacity to simultaneously support up to four players.

The players of the game have the ability to alter their virtual ride in order to make it more suitable for the track, and as they progress through the game and earn more victories, they will be able to unlock increasingly distinctive EV MINI models.

On the other hand, a co-op audio experience is available in the game Fender's Stratoverse, which allows players to create their own music riffs while being surrounded by enormous Fender guitar amps and planets that float high in the stratosphere.
