Amazon Echo Show Finally Gets a Slideshow Feature Called Photo Frame Mode

Amazon Echo Show's new feature, called Photo Frame Mode, can now be enjoyed by users.

Amazon Echo Show smart displays now have a new feature called Photo Frame Mode, where users now have the option to hide their home screen and instead opt to display a slideshow feature.

The Amazon Echo Show Photo Frame turns the Amazon Echo Show smart displays into a photo slideshow. Users can maximize this feature for up to three hours of just displaying photos.

The photo frame mode will present a non-stop slide show and hide all ads, app display, and weather notifications for users to be able to enjoy a photo-only slideshow.

Amazon Echo Show

The digital photo frame feature of Amazon's Echo smart displays, which was previously exclusive to the Echo Show 15, is now available on all Echo smart displays in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Spain, France, Germany, and Italy.

To use the feature, users simply need to say "Alexa, start Photo Frame" for the app to begin playing a slideshow that includes either the collection of their stock images, Facebook photos, or Amazon Photos.

The slideshow feature does this completely clutter-free for three hours. According to The Verge, when using it, the only text that can be made out is a dateline that is very small and is located in the bottom right corner. It indicates when the picture was taken and which album it is from.

Importantly, switching to this new Photo Frame mode transforms the slideshow into one that only displays photos, concealing all advertisements as well as calendar and weather alerts.

The slideshow that the Photo Frame mode uses will depend on what the users choose. This can be changed to whatever photo the user wants in the Settings section of the Alexa app.

The feature also allows the Echo Show to display pictures from the users' Facebook accounts since they can be linked together. Aside from that, users also have the option to upload the images they want from their tablet or mobile devices.

Additionally, users can also select any photos that they have from their Amazon Photos account. Users can select options such as Recents, This Day, Daily Memories, and Favorites.

How To Display Photos in Echo Show

The Photo Frame makes it simple to launch a slideshow without requiring the user to recall the name of a particular album or without requiring the user to repeatedly observe the same images being displayed.

The Echo Show line of smart displays includes devices that are capable of functioning as digital photo frames.

Using the Amazon Photos service, which offers free and unlimited photo storage for Prime members, is the quickest and easiest way to use one of these devices as a digital photo frame. Amazon Prime members can access this service there.

Amazon's Echo Show photo frame mode can be accessed in numerous Echo Show variations like Echo Show 10, Echo Show 8, Echo Show 5, and Echo Show 15.

According to The Verge, users can verbally direct Alexa to play a particular album by asking it to do so and using commands such as:

  • "Alexa, show photos from last summer."

  • "Alexa, launch photos of my hiking album."

  • "Alexa, show photos from This Day."

  • "Alexa, tell me more about this photo."
