Elon Musk: Tesla Giga Shanghai Hits 1 Million Production Milestone

No less than the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tesla, Musk, announced on his Twitter account that Giga Shanghai has already made its 1 millionth EV.

As per the latest report by Electrek, the achievement of the Giga Shanghai is a monumental milestone for the Tesla factory in the Asian nation.

The news outlet notes that the big boss of Tesla stated last year that its Chinese facility is its new primary export hub.

Musk made that pronouncement when the Giga Shanghai easily outpaced the Fremont Factory of the renowned EV maker in its production capacity in 2021.

Tesla Giga Shanghai

The Tesla Giga Shanghai debuted producing EVs in December 2019, exactly a year after its swift construction began.

The Chinese facility is currently responsible for producing the Model 3 and Model Y EVs. However, the carmaker is also looking to bring more models soon.

The past several weeks for the Giga Shanghai were pretty much difficult, no thanks to the lockdowns in the Chinese district as the government seeks to bring down the number of active COVID-19 cases.

Not to mention Tesla was recently forced to shut down as the American automaker upgraded the facility to kick off a more efficient production rate.
