Apple Maps is preparing for Search Ads to users next year, with the company planning to roll them out after previously implementing the feature in the App Store.

The engineering team of the Cupertino giant is reportedly in the process of preparing the software to be able to support these search ads. However, there has not been an official launch date. However, users of Apple Maps will experience this feature in the app somewhere in 2023.

Search Ads on Apple Maps

Apple is preparing for the implementation through conducting tests in the internal version of Maps for the addition of search ads.

With this advertisement campaign, it means that software companies can now pay Apple to give their software a higher ranking in search results.

Developers have the option of paying the company to give their software a higher ranking in search results. This will ensure that it is displayed at the top of the page whenever users search for particular terms.

Apple is not new to implementing these types of advertisement campaigns. Search ads have already been implemented in its App Store. According to Egadget, the functionality of search ads within Maps will function the same way.

Restaurants and food businesses can now pay Apple to show up at the top of search results when users type in a certain keyword that they belong to.

It is speculated that Apple may also place advertisements of a similar nature within its Podcasts and Books apps at some point in the near future. Additionally, for Apple TV+, the company might start providing a tier that is supported by advertisements.

The push for these revenue and advertising strategies is attributed to the company's vice president, Todd Teresi, who is in charge of the advertising division.

Apple was conducting the test as part of a plan to significantly expand the revenue from advertising it generates.

With time, Teresi hopes to see the division's sales rise to at least $10 billion annually from its current $4 billion figure. To achieve that goal, Apple's current advertising efforts would need to undergo a substantial expansion.

Apple's iPhone 14 Release

The tech company is not just preparing to implement ads on its Apple Maps and its ecosystem, but it is also preparing to launch the newest iteration of the iPhone.

As reported by Bloomberg, on September 7, the company intends to make the iPhone 14 official at a press conference. The new iPhone would then go on sale on September 16-about a week earlier than last year's schedule. The release date makes it the earliest since 2016.

The event will take place on the Wednesday following Labor Day, which is an unusual day for Apple to announce new products.

Users can anticipate that members of the press will be able to get their hands on new gadgets after that point in that scenario, similar to how they were able to do so following the redesign of the MacBook Air in June.

There are rumors and assumptions that it is highly likely that Apple will hold an actual event for the iPhone launch at its Apple Park headquarters, just like it did for the June WWDC. Just like Apple has done with events throughout the pandemic, the presentation will still be delivered online, but Apple may also show the footage live to a crowd at its campus.
