Moto X sees another price drop in Canada

Motorola's recently-launched flagship handset, the Moto X, has now seen another price drop in Canada just within weeks of its debut.

The Moto X launched in Canada on Aug. 23 as a Rogers exclusive. It's not even been a full month since the handset's release and the smartphone is already seeing a price cut of roughly $40.

Rogers initially launched the handset for $189.99 on a two-year contract and just within a week, reduced the price of the smartphone to $169.99. Now Canadian retailers such as Best Buy and the Future Shop have reduced the price of the handset by another $20, which means you can now grab the device for $149.99 on a two-year contract.

However, Best Buy and the Future Shop have reduced the price of the Moto X only for a limited time, until Sept. 5. The price will most probably go up to normal after that date. You can pick either the black or the white variant of the handset from the retailers.

Rogers continues to sell the Moto X for $169.99 on a two-year contract. The full price of the handset without any commitment, however, remains unchanged at $549.99.

A recent report also indicated that the price of the Moto X will drop to $99.99 in Q4 this year. The price cut of the handset may not come as a surprise as the next-generation iPhone 5S, along with the budget iPhone 5C, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Honami and more smartphones are expected to launch in September this year.

The handset has created a lot of hype due to its customization features, but the competition in the smartphone space will be immense with the launch of various top-end smartphones soon.

The price drop on the Moto X will be welcomed by many customers looking to buy the new handset. On the other hand, customers who have bought the device may not be happy to see a price drop so frequently.

If you are planning to buy the Moto X, will you take advantage of the recent price cut or will you wait for the price of the handset to drop even further?
