5 Indian True Crime Documentaries on Netflix That Fans of the Genre Should Check Out

True crime documentaries, needless to say, are very, very popular among Netflix viewers. These documentaries are not limited to those that focus on cases in the United States. In fact, you can find true crime documentaries from Europe and Asia on Netflix as well.

An example of which are the true crime documentaries from India. These documentaries have some of the most disturbing crimes and stories you will probably ever hear of.

We are about to list down five of these Indian true crime documentaries. However, we would like warn our readers that some of these documenataries contain very graphic images. Viewer discretion is advised.

'A Big Little Murder'

Stories of crimes against children tug on the heartstrings a lot harder and "A Big Little Murder" is a perfect example of it.

"A Big Little Murder" was released on Netflix in 2021 and focuses on the murder of a seven-year-old boy named Pradyuman Thakur, which happened in 2017. What made the case even more controversial is that the young boy was murdered in his school, Ryan International School. Specifically, he was found with injuries to his neck in the washroom of the school and he later died from his injuries.

'Crime Stories: India Detectives'

If you want a true crime documentary series that does not focus on just one particular crime, you might want to check out "Crime Stories: India Detectives," which was released in 2021 as well.

This docuseries follows the Bengaluru city police as they work to solve four crimes within their jurisdiction. Three of these crimes involve murder, while the fourth one involves the kidnapping of a child.

'House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths'

Released in 2021, "House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths" is a three-part docuseries that focuses on what is known as the Burari mass suicide. In 2018, 11 members of the same family were found dead in their home. 10 of them were found hanging while the oldest member of the family, the grandmother, had been choked to death.

It does not sound all that sinister at first, right? But as the police goes on to investigate the reason behind the suicide, things just get worse beyond your wildest dreams. We do not want to give much away, but shared delusion or psychosis plays a big role in the demise of the family.

'Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi'

"Indian Predator" is a true crime series that, as of press time, has two seasons. The first season, "Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi" premiered on Netflix in July 2022.

"Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi" focuses on a series of instances of mutilated bodies left outside a particular jail in Delhi. The police eventually discover that these murders are all related as the victims have been killed by just one person who has a grudge against the police.

'Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer'

The second season of "Indian Predator," which is titled "Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer," premiered on Netflix just this month.

What starts of to be a story of a murder of journalist turns out to be so much more when the killer's diary is found containing many names written on its pages. In fact, the police discover that there are more than 10 other victims.

If you think that is not bad enough, throw in cannibalism to the mix and the cases is taken to a whole new level. You can watch "Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer" on Netflix.
