Samsung is Reportedly Pushing Back the Release of Galaxy Tab S9

Due to the economic downturn, it seems that Samsung is delaying the release of the Galaxy Tab S9, according to TechRadar.

The Galaxy Tab S9 series was originally slated for a December 2022 release date. Unfortunately, Samsung has to take a step back as the Korean electronics giant is currently facing certain economic challenges.

Galaxy Tab S9 Likely to Arrive in 2023

Aside from the economic downturn, a decrease in the demand for IT products such as tablets is the reason why Samsung decided to push back the release of the Galaxy Tab S9.

Recently, slow demand for tablets has been observed. In fact, Apple's iPad units (which are supposed to earn billions in annual revenue) have also slowed down in sales.

The 2023 delay also includes the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Given the delay of the Galaxy Tab S9, Apple will likely benefit from it when it launches its low-cost iPad 10 and M2 iPad Pro series later this year.

According to WCCFTech, there is a plan to launch the Galaxy Tab S9 series this year. However, Samsung has decided to push back its release due to several factors. Following this, reports said that the new Samsung tablets are set to arrive in February 2023.

Samsung is Expected to Release Three Models of Galaxy Tab S9

Accordingly, the Galaxy Tab S9 series will feature three models: Tab S9, Tab S9+, and the Tab S9 Ultra.

The Galaxy Tab S9 is highly likely to target the masses. It is expected to come with a competitive price. Instead of an OLED panel, it will likely have LCD to keep the manufacturing costs down.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab S9+ will have better specs than the entry-level. And the high one, the Galaxy S9 Ultra, will have premium features.

The upcoming Samsung tablet is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

According to Samsung, the Tab S9 will have a 5.8" infinity display. It will have 4GB RAM, 64GB/256GB of storage, plus a micro SD slot (up to 400GB). The battery is up to 3,000 mAh. It will be equipped with a 12 MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera.

Meanwhile, the Tab S9+ will have a 6.2" infinity display. It will have 6GB RAM, 64GB/256GB of internal storage a plus micro SD slot (up to 400GB). The battery is up to 3,500 mAh. The cameras are a 12 MP rear camera, a 12 MP telephoto, and an 8MP front camera.

While market research firms claim that the overall shipments of tablets are expected to decline this year, the sales of premium and ultra-premium tablets are expected to increase.

Meanwhile, an 8% decrease in shipments for the tablet segment this year is speculated by research firm DSCC. On the other hand, the penetration of premium tablets could rise from 3% in 2021 to 4% in 2022.
