Easter Eggs Found in Silent Hill: Townfall's Trailer

Some games are known to drop easter eggs here and there for the thrill of it, and Silent Hill is not missing the opportunity to do so. According to PC Gamer, secret messages have been found in the trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall. It's the new game that's being developed by Stories Untold Studio No Code, which was published by Annapurna Interactive.

At first, the trailer seems a bit anticlimactic, but the creative director, Jon McKellan, said that the trailer might be worth watching again, alluding its viewers to look deeper into it. Many saw this as something of a tease and have found several clues buried within the trailer.

The Deciphering of the Trailer

One Redditor has found something concrete by downloading the audio as an m4a file. u/MilkManEx looked at its spectrograph in Audacity, saying that it was hidden up in the higher frequencies. It showed the sentence, "WHATEVER HEART THIS TOWN HAD HAS NOW STOPPED."

Someone on Twitter also found something by subtracting the seemingly identical images posted by both No Code and Annapurna Interactive. It was Morse code that translated to "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO LEAVE." to which No Code replied with a GIF saying "I'm really proud of you."

Speaking of Morse code, when pausing the trailer to reveal the flickering images in the pocket television, viewers will see three dots, three dashes, and three dots. Once translated, it says S.O.S. as well as a text that says, "THY FLESH IS WEAK."

There is a part of the trailer 33 seconds in where there is fuzzy audio that may sound like someone saying, "Is that Alessa?" referencing a pivotal character in the first game. According to Kotaku, some people are hypothesizing that the person speaking in the trailer might be K. Gordon, which was Alessa's teacher.

Some believe that 45 seconds in, the figure that can be seen is Valtiel, who was first introduced in Silent Hill 3. Another theory is that the creature that is seen sideways 45 seconds in was Lying Figure, which was first seen in Silent Hill 2.

Either way, fans are still trying to figure out if there are any more clues. Since it hasn't been long since the release of the trailer, it's possible that there really could be more to be found.

Other Silent Hill Updates

Another Silent Hill game will be added to the franchise. Silent Hill F is set in 1960s Japan and is a new story set. That means that it's likely unrelated to the previous Silent Hill games. There's not much to go on aside from the trailer that Konami released. The trailer might've been uploaded just so players would know what the game would look like.

During the Silent Hill transmission, it was also revealed that there would also be a Silent Hill 2 remake. Konami went ahead and announced the movie "Return to Silent Hill" and "Silent Hill: Ascension" as well, which is an interactive streaming series wherein audience participation will determine how the story plays out.
