[BREAKING] Elon Musk Completes Twitter Deal; CEO, CFO Have Been Terminated

Elon Musk has completed the $44 billion Twitter deal after months of uncertainty and legal issues. It should be noted that the billionaire had until Friday to complete the deal. If he'd been unable to do so, he'd have to deal with a court battle.

As the deal reached completion, several Twitter executives have been fired, including CEO Parag Agrawal.

Elon Musk Completes Twitter Deal; Executives Fired

Elon Musk's ownership of Twitter has started of with a bang, although it remains to be seen if this is a positive or negative thing.

As previously mentioned, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has been terminated. According to a report by Reuters, Chief Finance Office Ned Segal has been terminated alongside. Both executives were in Twitter's San Francisco office and were escorted out of the building once the deal was closed.

The Reuter report notes that Musk "had accused them of misleading him and Twitter investors over the number of fake accounts on the social media platform."

Per a report by CNBC, Vijaya Gadde, the head of legal policy, trust, and safety, has also been fired by Musk.

The new Twitter owner has changed the bio of his account to "Chief Twit" as seen below:

Elon Musk's Message to Twitter Advertisers

Musk previously posted a message to Twitter's advertisers on his personal account, stating that he wanted to reach out personally so that he can relay why he wanted to acquire to the social media platform to begin with.

Clarifying that he did not do it because it was easy or he wanted to make more money, the new Twitter owner said that the reason he acquired Twitter is because "it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence."

In his message, he assured advertisers that "Twitter cannot obviously become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!"

The report by Reuters notes that Musk previously said that he is planning on defeating spam bots and make algorithms that determine the presentation of content available to the public.

Twitter Employees' Uncertain Future

Twitter employees suddenly had a reason to be worried about their future when it has been reported that Elon Musk is planning to lay off 75% of the 7,500 workers the company has. 

However, it has been previously reported here at iTech Post and other news outlets that the new Twitter owner has backtracked on the statement he made to prospective investors. It remains to be seen if this is really the case or if he will push for the mass layoffs.
