Apple's iOS 16.2 Introduces Streamlined Accessibility Mode for iPhones And iPads

Apple adds Custom Availability Mode to the iOS 16.2 beta 2 released for developers, as it gets ready to be rolled out to the public in December.

According to The Verge, the streamlined Accessibility Mode will let users tweak the appearance of their home screens to their liking, for an easier mobile experience.

Enabling The Custom Accessibility Mode Provides Users With A New Experience

Codenamed "Clarity," this new mode replaces the Springboard, which was the main iOS interface, with a more streamlined version.

This aims to make the interface for the iPhone and iPad more user-friendly for those who might find it complicated, 9to5 Mac reports.

Apple described the Clarity Mode as a customizable way to use iOS devices that should work similarly to the Guided Access mode, which current iPhones and iPads use.

Additionally, the Custom Accessibility Mode will let users set IU and larger texts, which apps are available on the home screen, which contacts are allowed, and what buttons can be used when in this mode.

A password will be put in place to keep the settings the users put in place, but a triple click on the side button can quickly enable and disable the Custom Accessibility Mode.

With this, once the mode is activated, the interface of the devices and the apps will look more simplified, but will have larger elements.

The lock screen in the Custom Accessibility Mode is also simplified with a simple hold down, and the home screen will have giant icons with no Dock, eliminating most aspects of the regular interface.

The Verge writes that should Apple release the iOS 16.2 update globally, it would add the Custom Accessibility Mode to its collection of impressive and useful accessibility features.

Apple has not yet provided a specific date for its launch, but 9to5 Mac claims that the iOS 16.2 will be available to iPhones and iPads by mid-December, should testing finish next month.

More Features Will Come With The Custom Accessibility Mode Through iOS 16.2

Trusted Reviews claims that aside from the new Accessibility Mode that iOS 16.2 will be introducing to devices, users can also expect key additions on the lock screen widgets.

The lock screen will now also have widgets for sleep tracking, medications, and more, according to rumors about the beta version rolled out for developers.

The Sleep widget, which is now available for the beta iOS 16.2, joins the home screen, and can be customizable into smaller squares showing total sleep, or larger rectangles showing a graph.

Medications will also be visible in the home screen through a widget with the new update, where a small square shows a pill, and the larger rectangle will detail what medications the users should take on a day.

The Weather app also gets a bump, which will be useful for users whose areas are experiencing floods, tornadoes, and other calamities.

Additionally, a Freeform app is launched with the new beta update, which is designed for sketching, adding notes, drawing, and more on a cross-platform collaboration application.

Lastly, with the release of the iOS 16.2, the tech giant includes a range of bug fixes and performance improvements that can make using the iPhone a better experience, Geeky Gadgets says.
