Henry Cavill Won't Return to 'The Witcher' Even After Losing Superman Role

When Herny Cavill was no longer playing Geralt, "The Witcher" fans were devastated. To add salt to the wound, he was no longer playing as Superman as well. Cavill has been removed from the two roles people said he was perfect for, and they are curious how that happened.

Liam Hemsworth Will Still Play Geralt of Rivia

Yup. The Hemsworth brother is still set to play the Butcher of Blaviken. So far, Netflix is sticking with the change since there have been no announcements about the show's casting, as mentioned by Gizmodo. Perhaps you can still hold on to a tiny flicker of hope since it's still too early to tell.

Although, if speculations are correct, it's probably Cavill who wouldn't want to return. If you've seen some of Henry Cavill's interviews for "The Witcher," you'd know how much he would geek out from time to time, especially about games he's passionate about.

Cavill has read "The Witcher" books series and played the game. In interviews, his co-stars would even say that the former Witcher would point out details that the film set got wrong, showing how loyal he is to the source material.

He even said that he would be committed to the book-adapted show's seven-year plan, but it was only if they honor Andrzej Sapkowski's work. Sadly, that was not the case. The series had several instances where the writers strayed from the book's original narrative.

Beau DeMayo, former producer of "The Witcher," mentioned that some of the writers "actively disliked the books and games," and even mocked it sometimes, according to Den of Geek. This is the exact opposite of what Cavill wanted for the show, which could be enough for him not to return.

Man of Steel No More

It was a consolation for "The Witcher" that even if Cavill was no longer playing Geralt of Rivia, he would still play Superman, which is a role that also fit him well. Unfortunately, that's not happening too.

It seemed like a sure thing especially since he appeared in the post-credit scene of "Black Adam," even teasing that the cameo was a small thing compared to what's in the works for the future of Superman, as mentioned by Digital Spy.

He was evidently excited about returning as the Man of Steel. Cavill expressed that the character meant so much to him and that it had a bright future ahead of it. There's still no official news as to why he was no longer playing the role, which leaves fans to their own conclusions.

It might also have something to do with the new story James Gunn was writing. He announced that he was writing a reboot that focuses more on a young Kal-El. Henry Cavill is perfect for the present Superman, a different actor might be needed altogether to portray a young Clark Kent.

Not to worry. Surely, Cavill will have more roles in the future. Now that his schedule is wide open since the loss of two major roles, he'll have time to take on new characters for both movies and shows.
