5 Thermometer Apps To Use When You Don’t Have One

Thermometers are handy tools that let us measure how hot or cold an object or a person is. This function makes them ideal to use in spotting someone who is running a fever.

Unfortunately, not everyone has the time or the foresight to buy a thermometer to measure someone or themselves if they have a fever or not.

With the COVID-19 pandemic still ongoing despite the many vaccines and lower infection rates and active cases, it is best to have one by your side, just in case.

Thankfully, technological advancements have made it possible to turn your everyday smartphone into a thermometer or a temperature monitoring device at least.

Here are some thermometer apps you can download on both iOS and Android phones.

iCelsius

iCelsius is a good thermometer app for those without an actual one. According to its Apple App Store page, it shows temperature data and graphs them to help you determine if your body temperature is improving or not.

Aside from the graphs, users can set up alarms on the app that alerts the user if their body temperature is above or below a certain range.

Unfortunately, the app requires a USB probe designed by iCelsius to use all of the app's features. This can be a bummer since the probe's asking price could be better off spent with an average thermometer.

It does have some advantages to regular thermometers, though. According to iCelsius, the probe is made of stainless steel and is waterproof. It can cover a range of -40 degrees celsius to 120 degrees celsius and can be connected to an iOS or android device.

Thermo: Temperature App Check

Thermo is a great choice for families taking care of one another when one or more members are brought down. According to its Apple App Store page, it records the daily temperature of each family member using a handy thermometer and saves the results.

According to its Apple App Store page, it records the daily temperature of each family member using a handy thermometer and saves the results.

It also charts and graphs the results it gets to help you gauge if you or a family member is getting better or not.

Unfortunately, you will need to buy the premium version to unlock the app's entire feature list for $9.99.

Fever Scout

Much like the first two apps, Fever Scout is an app that helps people monitor their temperature or others with a device that could be connected to their device via cord, Wi-Fi, or BlueTooth.

Unlike them, however, the app works with a Fever Scout patch to tell a person's temperature and sends its findings to the app via a wireless connection.

According to the Google Play Store, the app is great for busy parents taking care of kids who aren't feeling well.

iThermometer

iThermometer acts much like a real thermometer on the fly if you don't have the real thing on hand. According to its Apple App Store page, it comes with 24/7 monitoring with the iThermometer sensor that records your temperature every four seconds and puts them on a chart for you to read.

It also has an alert that tells if your temperature exceeds a certain limit or range.

Finally, iThermometer comes with free access to the Fever Management Information framework - Thermia, which is licensed from Boston Children's Hospital.

Vicks SmartTemp Thermometer

Vicks SmarTemp Thermometer is another temperature-collecting and recording app for families to refer to. Its Google Play Store page says that it can take temperatures for each family member and records them along with the dates, times, and locations where it was taken.

It also comes with FeverInsight, a feature that provides you with what you need to understand the meaning of a temperature. Thanks to this feature, the app screen will change from green to yellow, to red depending on the reading.
