YouTube Premium is Testing Its Queue System for Mobile

For those who use YouTube through the web, then you're already familiar with the queue system. However, YouTube is now developing the queue system for mobiles as well, and Premium subscribers will be seeing it first.

What's New with Queue?

You can now start adding videos to your queue by tapping on the dot menu you can find in video thumbnails. Like queue systems in other music streaming apps, the video will be added at the bottom of the list, as mentioned in The Verge.

If you don't have a current queue list, clicking the three dots will create one for you. The videos added to the list will play continuously in the sequence you added them, and it will do so until everything you added has been played.

You can edit your queue by moving videos up or down the list. You will also have the option to remove videos from your queue. Your makeshift playlist is not permanent, however. Once you exit the app, your queue goes along with it.

To activate the feature, you can go to the "Try new features" section of the app. Once you do, the three dots or the "Play last in queue" button automatically appears, as mentioned by Android Police, and you'll be able to add as much as you want.

If you're subscribed to YouTube Premium, you'll have no trouble looking for the feature. You can subscribe to the app service if you want, but like other streaming services, there has been a  price increase. The test is available until January 28th, so try it out before then.

It's Not Permanent

As mentioned before, the playlist is not permanent. As soon as you close YouTube, the queue you accumulated will disappear as well. If you want to have a list you can re-open every time you use the app, you can just make a playlist.

  • First, you have to go to Your Channel.
  • Once you're in your own profile, tap on Playlists which can be found on a panel on the left. If you already have playlists from before, then you'll see them. If not, spot the New Playlist button at the top right corner.
  • After clicking it, you'll have to assign a name for the playlist you're making. You can label it as whatever you intend it for like workout music, vine compilations, cute animal videos, interviews, tutorials, and more.
  • Once you name it, simply click Create. You can always change the name later. If you want your playlist to yourself, you can look for the options and make it public, private, or unlisted. Though, you're not done yet.
  • After a playlist has been established, open it and tap on the three dots below your playlist name. There you'll see Add Videos.
  • Once you do, you can search for the videos you want to add and tap on Add Videos in the bottom left corner.

Now, you can revisit the playlist as much as you want. If you want an entirely new queue, there's no need to make a new one. You can just edit the current playlist you made. But if you want a different playlist for a different purpose, just follow the steps above, as suggested by Wyzowl.
