Bryan Fuller Reveals Some Exciting News On 'Friday The 13th''s Prequel Show 'Crystal Lake'

Last Friday's "Friday the 13th Part III" screening featured an appearance by Bryan Fuller and other "Crystal Lake" writers, and the producer gave some intriguing show-related updates.

According to Fandom's Eric Goldman, "Scream" writer Kevin Williamson and "Friday the 13th" original final girl Adrienne King are joining the team, Gizmodo reports.

The Changes Coming To The Prequel Seem Like Good News

With the planned prequel series "Crystal Lake" from A24, Peacock, and Bryan Fuller, the "Friday the 13th" franchise is finally getting ready to make a comeback to television after 14 years.

Initially, it was thought that the television show would serve as a straightforward prequel to the well-known horror franchise, omitting any mention of the events of "Friday the 13th."

However, Adrienne King, who portrayed the original Final Girl in the 1980 film, will reportedly make an appearance in the series in addition to the infamous killer Jason Voorhees.

King will play a recurrent role in the production, as disclosed by Fuller, who was present to discuss some of the new information about the program, Movie Web details.

Although many people think that King will not be reprising her part as Alice, it's important to keep in mind that the actress did so in the 2021 fan film Jason Rising.

At the moment, it is still uncertain if she will just be portraying an older version of Alice or if she will have a completely different role to play in the prequel.

However, in another news, at least one episode will be written by Kevin Williamson, who also penned the recent horror films Sick by Peacock and Scream.

Additionally, Harry Manfredini, who composed the majority of the franchise's films, would write a "classic" theme, while an unnamed composer would give a more contemporary score for the show.

What We Know So Far About 'Crystal Lake'

There is not much information about "Crystal Lake" yet, but many think it might give "Friday the 13th" the same kind of success that Bryan Fuller's "Hannibal" gave the Hannibal Lecter brand.

While the plot may start as a prequel, it may also delve into the franchise's established lore and even attempt to retell some of the films.

However, Fuller did clarify during the Q&A that Peacock only bought one season out of the four that he pitched.

Additionally, the producer detailed that if the "Crystal Lake" team does not at least secure a second season, he would be required to pay a large fine.

Moreover, he was also questioned regarding the show's planned exploration of Jason Voorhees' mother, Pamela Voorhees.

"We're honestly going to be covering it all. The series is covering the life and times of these two characters," Fuller notes, according to Movie Web.

The "Friday the 13th" franchise, which has failed to receive any type of critical acclaim from the majority of reviewers, is somewhat of an oxymoron in the film industry.

Despite this, the franchise has consistently found its following and released sequel after sequel, eventually becoming a true cult classic.
