Amnesia: The Bunker Gets Delayed to May 16 Following ‘Tough Winter’

Amnesia fans may have to wait a few months longer for the next game.

Video game developer Frictional games recently announced it is delaying Amnesia: The Bunker until the middle of 2023 due to the problems it encountered during the game's development.

Frictional Games previously scheduled the release of Amnesia: The Bunker on March 2023 for the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles, per The Gamer.

Amnesia: The Bunker Delay Details

Frictional Games mention on its official Twitter account that it is delaying the release of Amnesia: The Bunker to May 16 due to a "tough winter."

According to the video game developer, its team experienced "a slew of illnesses" that affected its ability to develop the game on time for its March 2023 release.

It then reminded gamers that the company is only made up of a small team, and the loss of a member due to illness heavily impacts its production.

However, instead of pushing through to the game's original March 2023 release, Frictional Games decided to delay the game to do the game justice and to give more time for its team to work on the game without rushing the end product. "The team is working hard to make The Bunker the best it can be, and a few more weeks will make the necesary difference," Frictional Games said.

The news about the game's delay didn't incur any anger from the gaming community as far as the comments section of Frictional Games' tweet goes. Many people like Twitter user Elmo, Detective Seeds, and even GOG's official Twitter account praised the game developer's transparency and wished the people in the company the best and to take their time.

Many people thought the same, with all of them saying they couldn't wait to play the game in May and that they didn't mind the wait.

Amnesia: The Bunker is the next game of the Amnesia series following Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, the indirect sequel to the series' first game, Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

The game features Henri Clement, a French soldier during World War 1 left behind by his battalion and trapped inside an abandoned military bunker, per Gamepress. However, he is not alone as a deadly creature haunts the bunker's corridors looking for its next meal.

To escape the bunker, players must navigate the bunker's maze-like layout using all their skills and resources to avoid various traps and hazards while outsmarting and outrunning the creature.

Gamers who opt to play the game can look forward to a procedurally generated bunker after every playthrough, keeping them on their feet every time they play a new game. Additionally, Frictional Games equipped the game with enhanced lighting effects and carefully designed sound effects to unnerve players as they explore the Bunker.

The creature will also adapt to players' playstyle, presenting an ever-present threat to the player at every turn.Last but not least, the game revolves around players' choices, creating "an emergent gameplay experience" in a sandbox horror survival setting.
