CarPlay in the Uber Driver App

With this CarPlay support, an Uber driver who's using an iPhone for the Driver app can now view it through the car's dashboard display. This provides a larger display that's easier to access and is made specifically for people on the road.

They will be able to view a map with surge price areas, have navigation assistance, view and accept trips, add rides to their queue, and determine whether their current status is set to online or offline, as mentioned in MacRumors.

The integration lets drivers avoid switching between their phone and the screen, and can now easily switch between apps. With a bigger screen, that can see and control the navigation system better, which contributes to driver and passenger safety.

According to Uber's email, open the app on an iPhone and tap Go to online to connect the Uber Driver app to CarPlay. Then, connect the iPhone to the car using a cable or wirelessly. Once that's done, you can now use CarPlay for the car's dashboard, as mentioned in Tech Crunch.

CarPlay

The CarPlay feature has a lot more uses than just for navigation. Aside from turn-by-turn directions, you can also listen to music, send and receive messages, make calls, and more, allowing the driver to focus more on the road.

The dashboard display provides the driver with a single place to control features like keeping track of Maps, audio controls, and even Siri Suggestions. Note that the car should have built-in controls like a touchscreen, rotary knob, or touch pad, according to Apple.

Drivers can also arrange the apps that are displayed on the dashboard for quicker access. To add, remove or arrange the apps, head on to Settings, then under General, tao on CarPlay. Select the car in use and tap Customize. You can then add and delete apps.

Once you connect your iPhone, the order of the apps you assigned will appear on the display. However, not all apps are supported by CarPlay. As for audio apps, drivers can add in Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Radio Disney, iHeartRadio, and more.

There are many ways for you to navigate from app to app. You can use the touchscreen or the rotary knob to select apps, granted that the car comes with one. To return to a recently used app, you can tap the icon on the side of the screen or turn the knob to the icon and press.

If you're using more than eight apps, soem of them might not be on the immediate screen. Look for them on another page of CarPlay home by swiping left on the touchscreen, or turning the rotary knob.
