Not everyone who preorders Resident Evil 4's collector's edition will get it.

Gamestop customers recently reported that the popular store had canceled all preorders for the collector's edition of Resident Evil 4 Remake for the PlayStation 5 without providing a way to get their refund.

Resident Evil 4 Remake became available for preorder in late October, meaning that people had already reserved a copy of the game's collector's edition months before Gamestop announced the cancelations.

Gamestop RE4 Remake CE Cancelation Details

Gamestop customer and Twitter user Wario64 recently posted on his Twitter account that Gamestop issued a memo to people who preordered Resident Evil 4 Remake's collector's edition, saying that their orders would not be fulfilled/arriving as the collector's edition won't be arriving in stores.

This announcement means that people who preordered the collector's edition at Gamestop's physical stores won't be getting their order at all. While Wario64 did stress that preorders made online to Gamestop may have a chance of getting fulfilled, customers who did can move their reservation to another game, use the preorder fee as credit to purchase something else, or have it refunded to them.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case for people like Reddit user ZeroBrs who made their preorder for the collector's edition of the PlayStation 5 online. However, there may be hope as Video Games Chronicle mentioned that GameStop still has online stock for the collector's edition, albeit likely to be limited.

GameStop mentioned in an email to customers who preordered Resident Evil 4 Remake's collector's edition for the PlayStation 5 that they are canceling their orders due to "a change in inventory," per Kotaku. The company also mentioned that customers who pre-ordered the game will not get charged and will be receiving a cancelation notice from it in the next 24-72 hours.

While GameStop is willing to refund people their preorder fee, their email did not provide a way for them to receive their refund. The absence of a refund method could mean that people might have to go to the physical GameStop store they preordered in and ask for their refund there.

For those unaware, the preorder price for Resident Evil 4's collector's edition is $250, and GameStop is exclusively selling the collector's edition in the US. However, while this may sound like an isolated problem since GameStop is only located in the US, other people in various countries are reporting that their collector's edition preorders are getting canceled as well.

Resident Evil 4 Collector's Edition Content

Resident Evil 4 Remake's collector's edition comes with dozens of fan service for fans of the original game and the Resident Evil series.According to Screen Rant and the official Resident Evil 4 webpage, the collector's edition has the following:

• a figure of game protagonist Leon S. Kennedy wearing his classic bomber jacket
•  a steelbook case
• a special map of Resident Evil 4 Remake
• an artbook
• a collector's box in the style of the in-game inventory case

It also includes the content in the game's deluxe edition, which comes with:

• two alternative costumes for Leon and Ashley
•  two Leon-exclusive costumes and related in-game filters
• two deluxe edition-exclusive weapons
• a treasure map
• a sporty sunglasses which Leon can wear in-game
• a soundtrack swap allowing the game to play the original 2004 game's soundtrack during gameplay
