Someone Already Acquired the Pixel 7A Before Google Announced It

Usually, phone manufacturers try to keep things under wraps before they release a new product. Granted, sometimes details are leaked for bigger brand names like Samsung and Apple. Google Pixel, however, leaked a functional device before it was even announced.

Those who have been following the releases of Google Pixel phones already know that physical phone leaks are already normal occurrences. It has happened so many times over that it's easier to believe that Google is doing it on purpose.

One of the many instances includes the Nexus 4 having a full review online before it even hit the shelves, or how the Nexus 5 was accidentally leaked through a YouTube Video. Google even tipped the Pixel 6A in a coloring book, according to The Verge.

The leak was first posted on a Vietnamese news site called Zing News, along with photos of the phone from several angles. The phone is meant to be a test device for programmers, which was acquired by "Mr. D. Phi" for eight million VND or approximately 340 USD.

Unfortunately for the owner of the leaked phone, Google already locked the phone when the screenshot posted online revealed the device's serial number. The Pixel manufacturer is expected to announce the phone at the Google I/O developer conference this May 10th.

If so, then the Google Pixel 7A was acquired less than two months before its announcement plans. Since the device has already been locked by the manufacturer, it is no longer covered by the warranty and cannot be used by its buyer anymore.

Known Features

It has a similar design to the Pixel 7 with a 6.1-inch screen. It is said to be made of high-end materials for its metal frame and two glass sides. It still has the same camera bar as its predecessor as well. Based on the photo, the phone uses a USB-C charger.

The camera bar is also made of metal as opposed to the usual protective glass. The texture of the camera strip is matte, making it harder to obtain unwanted scratches. Just like the Pixel 7, the 7A has two cameras inside the pill-shaped camera cutout.

Both are 12 MP in resolution. One is for standard photography while the other is used for super wide-angle shots. Users also shouldn't expect the Google Pixel 7A to have a 3.5mm audio slot since the leaked physical device doesn't have one.

Unlike other Android phones, the leaked unreleased model only has one physical SIM slot, and it is still unclear whether it will support eSIMS or not, as said in Zing News. Although it may also be dust and water-resistant like the previous Google Pixel phones.

Based on the system information found inside the phone, the latest Google Pixel phone has 8 GB DDR5 RAM and 128 GB of Micron internal memory, which is run on an Android 13 operating system. There's also the option for a 90Hz screen.
