Valve Offers Steam Deck On Discount For The First Time

The Steam Deck portable gaming PC from Valve has only recently gone on sale, after being introduced just over a year ago.

Valve is knocking 10% off the suggested retail price of its portable gaming device to mark the Steam Deck's first birthday, The Verge reveals.

The Price Drop Is Another Big Selling Point For Steam Deck

The Steam Deck from Valve has been available for a whole year, and to mark the milestone, the portable gaming system is being heavily discounted.

Customers may get 10% off Steam Deck's standard pricing from now until the Steam Spring Sale ends on March 23.

This is the first time Valve has ever sold the Steam Deck at a discount, and customers will be able to choose one based on how much storage capacity they need if they are interested.

The 64GB model, which is the entry-level model, has eMMC storage and includes a carrying case, while the 256GB variant has faster NVMe SSD storage, the same carrying case, and comes with a special Steam profile bundle.

Users of the top-tier 512GB model will also receive a more upscale carrying case, NVMe SSD storage, unique anti-glare glass, a customized virtual keyboard motif, and the Steam profile bundle.

Game Spot has provided the Steam Deck original prices and their now discount prices, which are as follows:

  • Steam Deck 64GB version - now $359.10 from the original price of $399

  • Steam Deck 256GB version - now $476.10 from the original price of $529

  • Steam Deck 512GB version - now $584.10 from the original price of $649

Valve Has Been trying To Improve Steam Deck's Quality For Users

While the price drop can easily be associated with Steam Deck's birthday, it is also possible that the continuously improved portable's sales have eventually started to decline.

Although the Steam Deck has topped Steam's best-seller list for an incredible 37 nonconsecutive weeks, it has not done so since February.

Since it also dipped in rankings recently, today, Valve also unveiled a brand-new feature for the Steam Deck: a built-in method to alter the launch movie that plays when you turn on the device.

It is important to note that users can also purchase 20 of Valve's own startup videos from the Steam Points Shop, The Verge details.

The Steam Deck has had a number of software updates and quality-of-life enhancements since it was first introduced by Valve.

The system features a user-friendly interface that makes it simple to modify, and it was updated this week to allow loaded games and game files to be transferred between PCs and Steam Decks via a local network.

Even an official dock is available for it, allowing users to connect it to a monitor or TV instead of just playing games in bed.

The Steam Deck's native connection to Valve's online store and the astounding level of support for more than 8,000 validated games are two of its main selling features.

It is notable that Steam Deck has established itself as a versatile handheld that has opened up PC gaming like never before, with titles like Marvel's Spider-Man and Metal Gear Rising.
