A God of War Ragnarok Sequel Could Be in Development

A sequel to God of War Ragnarok could be in the works.

God of War Ragnarok cast member Ben Prendergast may have teased gamers recently about a potential new entry into the God of War series' Norse Saga, which supposedly ended with God of War Ragnarok.

Prendergast is an actor that voiced the Norse god Tyr in God of War Ragnarok.

God Of War Ragnarok Sequel Teaser

Prendergast said during a God of War retrospective panel in PAX East 2023 that gamers have yet to see the last of Tyr when discussing his character's role in God of War Ragnarok, which may be a hint about the series' future, per Shark Games

He also revealed that while he doesn't know much about the video game series' future, he does know "a little" for him to say as much. Unfortunately, he signed a nondisclosure agreement that prevents him from disclosing any further information, though he might've already done so by dropping that teaser, according to Games Radar.

However, it is worth noting that Prendergast's information could be unreliable, and while media publications have covered the teaser, there are no videos that could prove he did so as technical difficulties plagued the panel. Additionally, Santa Monica Studios has not commented on such a project whether in an official or unofficial capacity.

As such, gamers and fans of the God of War series should take Prendergast's information with a grain of salt for the time being.

For those who didn't play God of War Ragnarok, Tyr is the Norse god of war various God of War 2018 characters prominently make references to and plays a sort-of prominent role in the game.

Tyr's Role In Future God Of War Games

While the "Tyr" Kratos and Atreus encountered during the game's events is (SPOILER ALERT!) Odin disguised as the Norse god of war, the real one is within a hidden wing of the prison they found "Tyr" in, accessible only after players are done with the game's main story.

After Kratos, Mimir, and Freya liberate the real Tyr, the Norse god of war asks the trio to leave him be while he reflects on the events that transpired without him knowing, with him visiting all the nine realms to see the aftermath of the fall of the Aesir and Ragnarok himself.

While Tyr previously visited Greece during the time Kratos was actively hunting down the Greek pantheon, as evidenced by a greek relic inside Tyr's Vault, He doesn't recognize Kratos outright though his name sounds familiar to him.

It is unknown what Tyr would do after Odin's demise and the Aesir's fall, but the new prophecy Kratos encountered about himself during the game's epilogue could involve Tyr in some capacity. He could become one of the founding members of a new Norse pantheon of gods, with Kratos joining it, if the prophecy is true.
