Apple Music Classical

Classical music has been adored by many over the years ever since they were composed. Apple's way of recognizing that a lot of its users appreciate the genre is by releasing a standalone app, which can be accessed with an Apple Music subscription.

The tech giant acquired Primephonic, a streaming service dedicated to classical music, back in 2021. It has now become Apple Music Classical, which can handle complex metadata which is associated with the mentioned genre, according to The Verge

Like other music streaming services, the app will also have curated playlists for its users. In addition to that, listeners can also view biographies of the composers of the music, just so people will attain more knowledge regarding the genre.

Apple claims that users can listen to music at up to 192 kHz/24 bit with high resolution and lossless audio. There are over five million tracks that users can browse through, although offline downloads are still not an option at the moment.

Those who subscribe to the Apple Music Voice Plan can't use Apple Music Classical, and there is still no native iPad version of the app. The idea shouldn't be dismissed so easily, however, since the app is still in its early stages after all.

The app can be used in languages like English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Sadly, the app's compatibility is limited to the iPhone and iPod Touch only, and it needs to be running iOS 15.4 or later.

Apple Music Subscription

The new Classical can be seen as an added bonus for those who choose to subscribe to Apple Music. The music streaming service costs $10.99 per month for Individual, along with a free one-month trial. Select devices upon purchase can even grant users free access for six months.

Other plans include Student, which costs $5.99 a month, and Family which costs $16.99 a month. All three subscription tiers will give users access to around 100 million songs and over 30,000 expert-curated playlists.

Users can use Siri to request tracks, albums, playlists, or stations by asking or with Type to Siri. There are exclusives, original shows, concerts, and radio stations hosted by artists, all while streaming ad-free with Apple devices.

However, it is only with the Student, Individual, and Family plans that a user can listen to spatial audio with Dolby Atmos. The same goes for the full catalog in lossless audio, and Apple Music Sing with real-time lyrics and adjustable vocals.

The three mentioned tiers also let its users download 100,000 songs to their library, which they can access from any device. The subscription includes a user's ability to listen to music both online and offline.
