Musk is Preparing a High-End AI Technology to Beat ChatGPT's AI Model

According to the sources of The Wall Street Journal, Musk has founded a new company last month, based on a state filing that the sources were able to access. Musk has reportedly incorporated the name "X.AI Corp" for his new company, having him as the sole director and Jared Birchall as the company secretary. Birchall is also serving as director of Musk's family's offices.

The latest AI company in town was incorporated on March 9, 2023, marking the start of Musk's apparent plan to take over the AI industry. As per Engadget, Musk has been vocal about his opinion against artificial intelligence, which is why the reports of him building an AI company might come as a surprise to some people.

However, Musk's criticism of AI has been focused on ChatGPT, an AI chatbot powered by OpenAI's powerful AI model. He even started calls to regulate the technology and signed an open letter to stop the technology's development. Musk's last encounter with AI has been almost a decade ago when he co-founded OpenAI, the company that he is now openly criticizing.

As reported by the Financial Times, Musk has reserved high-powered GPU processors from Nvidia, which is reportedly in anticipation of his latest AI venture. High-end GPUs are needed to run a "large language" AI model that can absorb huge volumes of content to come up with "human-like writing or realistic imagery." This kind of technology is what will make X.AI Corp a worthy competitor of OpenAI and will give ChatGPT a run for their money.

Musk Wishes to Change the Purpose of AI with the Creation of X.AI Corp

One of the notable criticisms of Musk about ChatGPT is that its AI model has become politically biased. At one point, he pointed out that OpenAI's chatbot presents the "danger of training AI to be woke." With this, Musk expressed his desire to create an AI model that is "truth-seeking," which could be one of the motivations that created X.AI Corp.

It appears that Musk's plan to build an AI company has been rolling since last year, in response to the rise in popularity of OpenAI. He reportedly recruited engineers from top tech corporations in the AI industry, including DeepMind. At this point, he is reportedly on his way to snatching OpenAI's spot as the leading AI company in the world.

Musk left OpenAI three years after co-founding the company in 2015. There are many speculations surrounding Musk's departure, including the rumored clashes with the management regarding the AI technology's safety. It was also reported that Musk decided to leave after OpenAI executives rejected his bid for a total takeover of the company.
