The Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly planning on increasing the screen size of its upcoming iPhone 16 models - larger than the iPhone 15's.

Apple iPhone 16 Leak Details

Apple has been a busy bee lately. It is already designing the iPhone 16 months before it releases its iPhone 15 models in the market if 9to5Mac's exclusive report is to be believed.

According to the publication's exclusive report, Apple is planning to increase the screen sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, with its sources providing the CADs that show just how big the increase would be.

The CADs showed that the larger iPhone 16 Pro model, which could be called iPhone 16 Ultra, will come with a 6.9-inch screen that would significantly grow the device's size and body. A more in-depth analysis of the CADs showed that Apple plans to effect its screen size increase by making the phone slightly wider and taller, providing users with a better grip on it while using it one-handed.

To be specific, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is approximately 76.7mm wide and 159.8 mm long, while Apple is planning to make the iPhone 16's screen size 77.2mm wide and 165mm long - a .2-inch difference between the two.

Despite the screen size increase, the iPhone 16 looks almost the same as the iPhone 15. While Apple might be trying to keep the overall form factor as close to the same as physically possible, it could still change a thing or two with it as development goes on.

Meanwhile, Apple is also planning to increase the size of the iPhone 16 Pro's screen to 6.3 inches, making the model only slightly larger than the iPhone 14 Pro and the same as its iPhone 15 counterpart.

Although Apple didn't mention why it is planning to increase the screens of its iPhone 16 models in its CADs, Analyst Ming-chi Kuo says that making them larger allows Apple to fit a periscope zoom lens on the iPhone 16 Pro model, at least, per a recent Macrumors report.

Apple Device News

The iPhone 16 is still far ahead from being released to the public, and as such, it is best to take any leaks with a grain of salt despite many reliable sources stating that Apple is indeed increasing the screen size for its iPhone 16 phones.

That aside, the company is working on other things that would either improve its existing gadgets or introduce a new one entirely. You may remember that the company is planning on revealing the latest versions of its operating systems for its gadgets; Apple Watch, for its part, would be getting widgets again due to it being the central part of the new watchOS system.
