ElonJet Account Holder Has Been Suspended om Instagram and Threads

The man behind the @ElonJet account, Jack Sweeney, has been posting flight information about Elon Musk's jet even before the tech billionaire acquired Twitter. Although this eventually led to Sweeney's suspension on Twitter, he still had other platforms, that's until he was suspended on Instagram and Threads as well.

Sweeney Gets the Boot from Meta

It's not clear why Instagram and Threads suspended the account of Jack Sweeney, who uses the handle "@elonmuskjet" on Instagram, which is also carried out to Threads. The account holder claims that Meta already knew about his account beforehand.

According to Engadget, Meta mistakenly removed the account from Threads and restored it, only to suspend it again. This time around, the removal of the account may be permanent, as it could be violating one of Threads' policies.

Twitter has already established its own anti-doxxing rules to prevent such circumstances like Musk's to happen again. Users can no longer share the private information of other people without acquiring permission first. The same also goes for media like photos and videos.

The sharing of private information may lead to risks to the subject's safety and security. For instance, Jack Sweeney sharing Musk's real-time whereabouts based on his flight schedules can alert bad actors of the Tesla CEO's location and subject him to harm.

Musk even referred to the doxxing matters as "basically assassination coordinates." Although, anyone could still figure out where Musk is landing or flying since Sweeney uses flight data that can be seen by others as well, to provide live updates.

Still, it could be considered private information. Twitter also stated that it will "take action against home addresses being shared," even though can be found online as it still risks potential harm to the owner of the address.

Sweeney Would Not Budge

The man behind the post had been warned several times before he was forced to shut down the tracking. Reports even say that Musk already offered to pay him $5,000 through private messages for the doxxing, as mentioned in Fortune, but Sweeney declined.

Musk tried to sweeten the deal but adding the monetary amount in exchange, as well as offering job positions under the tech billionaire's company. Nothing came of this and Musk decided to sue the user eventually.

The former Twitter CEO stood by his idea of free speech, saying that this belief extended to the account following his plane, causing "direct personal safety risk." This did not last long, however, as the company decided to shut his account down.

As it turns out, Sweeney also had other accounts that posted updates on other notable people like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jezz Bezos, and more. It was also mentioned that the tracker was interested in Musk as a fan of both Tesla and SpaceX.

Following the suspension, Musk said that revealing his coordinates resulted in a stalker following him around in Los Angeles. The tech billionaire recounted the events of the night, saying that someone blocked the car from moving and climbed on the hood.
