Netflix Drops Game Controller App for iPhone

Netflix is further expanding its investment to video games by launching a game controller app on iOS App Store. The new app will allow Netflix subscribers to use their phones as a controller after pairing it on their television.

Netflix Game Controller 

Netflix has been collecting games on their platform since 2021. The entertainment company decided to up their game in the industry by investing on mobile games and integrating it on their streaming platform. 

Although the app is now available to download in the App Store, there are no other details from Netflix as to which games will be compatible to play on a the big screen. Even the release date remains a mystery as the company only added a "Coming Soon to Netflix" message on the app description. 

In an interview by Tech Crunch last 2022, VP for gaming of Netflix, Mike Verdu clarified that the company is not competing with other popular consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and others. Instead, he explained that they are using a different model to bring a very natural way of playing games anywhere. 

Netflix Mobile Games 

Netflix have currently acquired 63 mobile games on their platform and it doesn't look like the company will stop their. According to Stock Analysis, Netflix decided to venture on mobile games due to the slowed growth of the company over the past years. 

Meanwhile, Netflix firmly believe that cloud gaming is the most efficient way to give easy access to games on any screens. The company also shared that they envision that games will be played on any Netflix device that the users have in the future.
