TikTok's Labeling AI-Generated Content

As of now only selected TikTok creators have seen the new feature. In a screenshot taken by Matt Navarra, TikTok has set three brief introduction for the AI-label feature.

Firstly, creators are now required to disclose AI-generated content that "shows realistic scenes". Do note that what counts as "realistic" is in accordance with the platform's Community Guidelines. These labels encourages viewer awareness between real and fictional content.

Most importantly, TikTok warned that failure to properly label these content will result to the video being taken down in the platform.

TikTok and Other Follows New AI Labeling

Aside from TikTok, Instagram has also started hinting its roll out of the same policy. Recently, selected users started seeing a toggle that will let creators label their content as AI.

In Instagram, both Meta and the creator can flag the post as AI-generated. Meta can automatically put a label once it detected that the content was created or edited using AI.

Other tech companies such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft have started developing ways to promote responsible use of AI within their platforms.
