You need to make sure that you have a computer that can handle heavy apps. For photo editing tools, you won't really need that much processing power. However, video editing tools will take a lot out of your PC, so you need to be certain that it has the appropriate specs, and it doesn't necessarily need to be the most expensive PC on the market.

For instance, running a program on a 16GB RAM computer will go smoothly as opposed to 4GB RAM computers, which might end up crashing and you'll lose all your progress. You'll also want one with a lot of storage because you will need it to hold a lot of raw images and footage.
