End of an Era for Xbox 360

Microsoft launched Xbox 360 on November 2005. This November Xbox will officially hit its 18 year in the gaming console industry. However, with Xbox continuing its evolution Microsoft made a big decision to cease the operations of Xbox 360 Marketplace.

Once implemented, Xbox 360 users will not be able to buy new games, DLC, and other entertainment content from the Xbox 360 Store both on console and marketplace. Fortunately, there is still an ample time for you to purchase and stack your favorite games and DLC from the digital store and marketplace.

The announcement also clarified that the closure will not affect the purchased Xbox 360 games and DLC. Therefore, gamers can still play within their collected games. In addition, these games can also be played on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S devices via backward compatibility.

Effect of Xbox 360 Closure

Video Games Chronicle reported that over 220 digital Xbox 360 games will no longer be available to buy after the marketplace closes in July. Currently, there are around 500 games listed in "Games on Demand" section of the store, including games with physical releases.

As of now, only Xbox games with backward compatibility will be safe from permanent deletion.
