Walmart plans on tempting holiday customers by offering both the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s at $27 and $127, respectively, from Dec. 13 through Dec. 24.
Apple's iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s have taken two of the top three slots in smartphones sold by AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile for the third month in a row. The company's plan of offering consumers a less expensive iPhone seems to be working and Walmart has taken notice. as it plans on discounting the smartphones during its upcoming holiday sale.
According to a new report from the Los Angeles Times, Walmart will price the iPhone 5c sand iPhone 5s far below the $99 and $199 starting prices the smartphones normally sell for when signing a new 2-year contract with AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. Walmart will price the iPhone 5c at $27 and the iPhone 5s at $127 on-contract.
The iPhone 5c brings colors to Apple's iPhone lineup. For the first time, Apple offered bright and fun colors with this lower-cost version. If you were a fan of the brightly colored iPod touch, nano, and shuffle, the iPhone 5c has been designed to appeal to people who want more than the usual look of black or white iPhones we've come to know over the years. It's also very durable thanks to its seamless polycarbonate case and steel-reinforced frame.
The iPhone 5c also comes with the same 4-inch Retina display found on the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5. A speedy A6 chip powers it. It has an 8-megapixel iSight camera that takes great pictures and a front-facing camera for video chat. It ships with 16GB of internal storage and is available in white, pink, yellow, blue and green.
The iPhone 5s, meanwhile, is the latest flagship iPhone and has a new Touch ID fingerprint scanner built into its home button. It has a 4-inch Retina display and is powered by the all-new A7 processor and M7 coprocessor, which allow for 64-bit processing and extra power efficiency. It's packing an 8-megapixel iSight camera that has a larger sensor, True Tone flash slow motion video and a front-facing camera for video chat. It also comes in a new Gold color option, in addition to Silver, and Space Gray.
Walmart's holiday sale kicks off on Dec. 13 and runs through Dec. 24.
