Rockstar Games Hacker Used an Amazon Fire Stick to Obtain GTA VI Leaks

Fans of certain game franchises are always looking for leaked information before a game is released. While some just wait for leaks to surface, others try to enter the developer's system themselves. That's exactly what an 18-year-old hacker did, and he did so without the usual equipment you'd need.

Hacker Infiltrates Rockstar System

Hacking into a well-protected company is already difficult enough, but knowing that 18-year-old Arion Kurtaj did so using an Amazon Firestick, a keyboard, a mouse, and a smartphone, the attack is just all the more impressive to us non-hacking folk.

Kurtaj performed the hack while he was held on bail, which was also from forcing his way into another tech giant, Nvidia. The hacker was placed in a Travelodge hotel, where the City of London police found the devices he used to get into Rockstar Games.

The Firestick was still attached to the hotel room's TV when the police arrived, catching him in the act. What's more, is that Rockstar is not the only company he managed to breach. Kuratj also hacked into Microsoft, global bank Revolut, and Uber, as per Kotaku.

The bad actor boldly announced that he was an attacker in the video game company's channel. Kurtaj claims to have downloaded all data for GTA VI, along with a threat that he will leak all of it unless Rockstar Games contacted him through Telegram.

Kurtaj is known to be a member of a hacking group called Lapsus$, and it is speculated that he did not perform the previous hacks alone. Right now, the hacker is in custody waiting for a sentence, which will likely be worse after being caught yet again.

What Are the Known Leaks?

After reading about hackers leaking information about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI release, it's natural that you might be curious what those leaks are. There have been a lot of reports on what they might be, and many of them are intriguing.

One of the more obvious information regarding the game is its compatibility with gaming platforms. The latest title in the franchise will probably no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One. Instead, players can download it on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Despite early leaks emerging, the game is actually far from being released. Based on reliable sources like Tez2, we might see GTA 6 around the holidays next year, maybe even going as far as 2025 and that's not even accounting for delays.

Footage from the game has also surfaced online, showing what looks like Vice City. This could indicate that Rockstar is including the iconic city in the game. What's better is that it will only be part of a much bigger map, which might also include maps from previous games.

According to Dexerto, the whole state of Florida will be involved. To get an idea of how big it can be, sources say that it would a a combination of the map size of Red Dead Redemption II and GTA V, meaning that it will be massive and Rockstar's biggest map yet.
