Cult Classic Dreamcast Game Gets a Remake After 24 Years

Remember the cult classic game that was exclusive to the Dreamcast system in 2000? The Rainbow Cotton, which is a popular 3D shooting game in Japan, is making a comeback after 24 years.

Rainbow Cotton Remake 

ININ Games confirmed that Rainbow Cotton will be remastered and released to PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game is planned to launch by Spring 2024 based on the trailer. 

The trailer provided a sneak peek on the upcoming new features of remastered Rainbow Cotton. While the game retains its original charm and cuteness with colorful graphics, the gameplay has now adapted modern mechanics. For instance, the "Dedicated Retro Mode" will recreate the exact experience from the original game including the anime cutscenes. 

On other aspects, fans can expect better graphics and improved effects that will boost the overall gaming experience. In addition, aesthetic upgrades has been included to appeal on the younger audience who was not able to discover the original game. 

Comeback of Retro Games 

Rainbow Cotton is just one of the retro games that are getting revamped in 2023. Other companies have also been working to re-released some of its cult classic as a tribute to its monumental contribution to the gaming industry. 

Nostalgia plays a big part in the industry and companies have been hopping on this trend. Indeed, many gamers are holding onto the memories when they used to spend gaming with their friends during childhood. ININ Games is crossing the bridge by bringing a lost gem in the gaming industry, making it more accessible than before.
