Apple Staff Allegedly Ordered To Stay Quiet on iPhone 12 Radiation Issue

Apple seems to have hidden important information about the iPhone 12.

The Cupertino-based tech giant reportedly told its staff to keep quiet about the iPhone 12's radiation radiation, preventing customers from making an informed decision when considering buying the device.

Apple released the iPhone 12 in 2020, making the alleged issue ongoing for three years and counting.

Apple's Complicity

Apple is not as innocent as it may want to look like. According to a report from Bloomberg, Apple has recently advised its tech support team to not provide any information when customers ask about the French government's claim.

Instead of answering customers' queries, Apple had its tech support team say that they "have nothing to share," and to reinforce the company's policy that phones can't be returned or replaced two weeks after purchase. Additionally, the tech giant instructed its tech support team to reassure customers asking if the iPhone 12 is safe by answering that it went through "rigorous testing" to ensure they're safe.

These instructions follow France's discovery that the iPhone 12 is emitting radiation levels that exceed the legal limits. You may recall that France's government agency that manages wireless communications frequencies found that the iPhone 12 failed one of the tests for electromagnetic waves capable of being absorbed by the body.

Interestingly enough, the government agency in question didn't reveal why the three-year-old smartphone failed the test, nor why or how it chose the iPhone 12 to test. Nevertheless, the government agency warned Apple to radiation-reducing software updates for the iPhone 12 or risk getting the device banned from France.

However, France's digital minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, said that the phone's radiation levels are still much too low for scientific studies to consider it harmful to users. He revealed in his X.com post that while the iPhone 12 was emitting radiation levels "slightly above" the allowed threshold, the radiation it emits is at levels more than ten times lower than the one at which there could be a health risk.

While Apple has already discontinued its iPhone 12 production with its introduction of the iPhone 15, there are still many French who are using the device. As such, the device's alleged radiation could cause them to suffer radiation-connected sickness - something the French government agency is avoiding.

The iPhone 12's Other Doubter

France isn't the only country skeptical of the iPhone 12's radiation levels. Belgium's junior minister for the digital economy already asked the IBPT-BIPT to analyze the potential health risks linked to the radiation iPhone 12s allegedly emitted after France halted its sales.

According to a report from Reuters, Mathieu Michel, Belgium's junior minister for the digital economy, wants to test the device for high radiation emissions to guarantee the safety of his country's citizens. As such, he had asked the IBPT-BIPT to analyze the potential danger the iPhone 12 poses, along with devices made by other producers, though the latter part may come at a later stage.
